I work at FT McPherson and currently live in an apartment in Buckhead. I'm looking to rent a condo or house that's within 30 min's of McPherson in a neighborhood that is actually nice. Because I own a condo I'm renting out at a small loss right now, I do need to keep the cost down (no more that $1300/mo for 2BR) I've been looking...and I'm still looking.

I like Buckhead, but the condos for rent that I've seen are all rundown or the nice ones are out of my price range. I've been in the military 10 yrs and have never had a hard time finding a nice, safe place to live and stay in budget. That includes DC market where I own a condo.

Where should I be looking? Need help!

cough--I would rule out a move to Clayton County in the near future.

You have a pretty broad area from which to select that 'Doesn't Stink'.

Dove Diva knows the Southside--maybe she will happen by and give you her opinion.

I think Vinings is within range for Fort Mac or atlantagreg might have FYI on Kennesaw and Acworth--pretty sure that there are many choices for you.

I am in NE Atlanta and I am certain you would have a horrific commute from this side of town. Or it would be the sort of commute that would make life unbearable for me, I should say. Some don't mind the daily Battle for Survival that ensues on the infrastructure of Atlanta, GA--I really, really do.

If people do not start using turn signals I do not know what I am going to do.

Learn to curse in several new languages is on my list. I think Italians have some particularly colorful phrases--maybe I will start there.

If you want to try anyway---Briarcliff/North Druid Hills is located within the ever expanding Emory Corridor--soon to be 'Developed' as fully as possible, I understand--at present it is a low crime area and you would have many choices--older/50's, 60's homes--many renovated with 1/3 acre and more lots, townhomes, apartments and condos. MARTA is prolific in this area--if that is a consideration.

Fairburn, GA - doesn't stink and all of it isn't expensive (yet).

Find something near 85 and you should be happy.

Do you use the MARTA rail? If you do, I would consider the apartments at Lindbergh Center near the MARTA station. There are 2 or 3 new complexes in that immediate area that I believe would be in your price range.
