darekk, lots of good advices. I'll add my $.02: Ellard Village. It's right of Holcomb Bridge, nice community, family oriented and good homes.

To the OP (darekk):Our discussion to this point has been about the city of Decatur (zip code 30030), not the areas to the south of the city (also called 'Decatur' for the convenience of the United States Postal Service - zip codes 30031, 30032, 30034 and 30035); it's actually an unincorporated area.
Masonbarge is correct in pointing this out, as it is a source of confusion to people new to the area. The area north of the city of Decatur ('Decatur', zip code 30033) is also a good neighborhood that is popular with employees of Emory University.

Dear all,
coming back to our recent discussion on preferred locations for home / apartment rental in ATL:
I just got an offer to sublease a furnished apartment from one of employees in my company - his moving away in exactly the same time I want to move in. Sounds convenient. So the same question remains - is this the good location for a family to live in?
The place is located in Buckhead between Roswell Rd NE and Chastain Memorial Park.

Can you get a street address? Ask him/her if it is walking distance to Chastain.

I think it is a good location. It is an apartment complex that sits on Roswell Road which is a busy street, but the plus is that there are restaurants, stores, etc to walk to. I drive by there often and believe they just did some renovations. I think it is walkable to Chastain Park, you might ask the person at your work.
Chastain Park will be fantastic for your wife as there are always people at the playground.

You won't have convenient access to the MARTA rail there; otherwise, Post Chastain is very centrally located for the north part of the city and Chastain Park is a wonderful amenity.

Hi darekk.
I live in Post Chastain for almost 2 1/2 years and I'm really enjoy living there.
As someone mention before, they just finished remodeling the apartments, you could find new appliances in the kitchen, granite countertop, new lighting fixtures. It also has a great club house with a complete fitness center, business center and a pool.
The complex is very nice and gated with controlled access to the complex and every building.
Just outside the complex there is a MARTA bus stop that connects you to Lindberg station in the South and Dunwoody/Perimeter Mall in the North. The service is good, every 15 minutes. I used it a lot.
The park is beautiful, you can walk there in 5-10 minutes. There is a Publix very close and plenty of restaurants.
Let know if you want more information about Post Chastain.

That's the type of recommendation I've been looking for.
I already started looking around for some kindergartens (pre-schools you call them?). I want my kids to quickly pick-up English and develop at the same time. They will be 2y8m and 4y8m old by January. But what I found in google maps in the neighborhood are kindergartens with annual tuition of almost 17.000 USD per kid! Is this really what you pay in the States? Back home I pay something like 2.000. Top premium ones would set you back 4.000 maybe.
I'm not looking for a Harvard-like kindergarten, but a good place for my kids to spend time, have fun, develop some social skills and learn the language. That's it.
