Best Independent Coffee Shop
Hi!
Anybody have a suggestion for a great independent place to get an iced mocha? Since this could probably go on for days if I don't narrow it down, let's say in Midtown/Buckhead.
Thanks.

Hm...I can't help you in Midtown/Buckhead.
In my neck of the woods I recommend Aurora (L5P and VaHi) and Java Monkey in Decatur.

I like Sip in Lindbergh Center (right across from the MARTA station).

Not too far from Midtown Octane on Howell Mill.

I second Octane.
I went to Sip and find it just too trendy and uppity. It's OK, but it's not what I would call a "coffeehouse".

Kavarna in Oakhurst/Decatur is cool too. Live music on some nights -- ATL Song Writers on Saturdays.

I would second Java Monkey in Decatur and would add Joe's in East Atlanta. Joe's is a coffee shop-lover's coffee shop.

In terms of a 'traditional' coffeehouse (beatniks, poetry readings), you are right...Octane would be closer to the mark.
