You could do both. Dine at Rathbuns and then stop by Dante's for the chocolate fondue and jazz. Call in advance to order chocolate fondue.
I think that would be a wonderful anniversary evening. Dante is a good host.

I need to give Sotto Sotto another try. The day I was there (with reservations) I had a very long wait and the service was very poor. I was stuck at a horrible table and I know that it all ruined my dining experience. I am willing to give them another try though since I love Fritti that is located next door to them.
You can't go wrong with Rathbun's. Save room for the dessert sampler. Kirk Parks is one of the most talented pastry chefs in the city. Besides - it was a steal! 3 items for ten bucks!
You could always have a drink at the Krog Bar and then head to Rathbun's. They are literally steps away from one another and the same owners.
I am salivating at the thought of your upcoming dinner and celebration!

OMG, with all the talk about Rathbun's, I had to google it and look at the menu...It looks amazing, and I LOL when I saw on the menu, "the second mortgage" plate.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade -- but -- if you're looking for a great meal, you can do a lot better than Rathbun's on the same budget. Kevin Rathbun is trying to make a name for himself as the Emeril of the South, and it's all about 'the scene'. Try Shaun's, which is a few blocks over on Edgewood, for a truly spectactular meal. Only a small step down is Wisteria, just around the corner on North Highland. Both are great for a date. If you still want a taste of the Rathbun Experience, stop off at his Krog Bar for a drink first. That place is pretty nice and worth a visit.
One note about Wisteria and Shaun's (and Rathbun's, for that matter) -- these places aren't offebat at all. For that add my vote to the long list of folks recommending Dante's.

Thaks everyone. What would I do without this forum? I think we will have a drink at Krog bar then dinner at Rathbuns and dessert at Dantes. I better book the sitter for longer. Thanks! I'll report in after the big night!
I'll check out Shauns for my girls night in the city in the Fall.

I've been to all three of the recently mentioned restaurants (Rathbun's, Wisteria, and Shaun's) and still think Rathbun's is the best of the three, with Wisteria a close second. I tried Shaun's when it first opened and was very disappointed - has it improved since then?

Is Cafe Expresso off of PeachTree near Piedmont Hospital still around? That place was nice. Small, quaint, good food, great liquors, coffee, and desserts.

Do you mean Cafe Intermezzo on Peachtree? If so, the answer to your question is yes.

Dinner out!
Rathbuns was fabulous! We had a drink and tapas at Krog Bar then dinner at Rathbuns. We ended up having to wait almost a half hour despite our reservations. To make up for it we were given a free glass of champagne each, eggplant fries for an appetizer as well as an assortment of pastries for dessert with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. The food was excellent. The atmosphere great (we sat outside).
I really liked Krog bar as well. Very nice atmosphere, very low key. I would go there for drinks and just tapas for dinner anytime.
I have to say too that (after living in NYC for a few years) the prices were very good for such a nice place. All in all an A+.
Thanks everyone for all your help. You made anniversary #12 a big success.
