Is Dunwoody a bedroom for Atlanta, or is it a stand alone city?

What is the status of housing,,,is it mostly multi-occupant or single family housing?

Commercial development,, what is it at this time? the future?

Crime rate,,? Most common type of crime,?

Low rent housing projects,,, do they exist in this community?

Gangs?

Schools,,,private and public,,,,?

Any comments regarding what you know about Dunwoody would be appreciated,,,,My daughter and her husband may be moving to this area and I am just trying to find out what I can about the community.
There move is career relanted and we no one in our family that has ever lived in GA. so any insight or informaiton would be appreciated. I believe the job will be in Dunwoody so communting will not be an issue unless the housing situation is not acceptable. they will be renting for the first year until they get a feel for the area.

Thanks in advance.

Dunwoody is a mix of mostly single family homes, some condos, apartments, and townhomes. Commercial development is ongoing in almost every part of Atlanta, but mostly in a good way. Dunwoody? Crime? Hardly, maybe only the small part of Dunwoody that extends to Roswell Road, that's about it. Gangs and public housing in Dunwoody just don't exist. Let me fill you in... Dunwoody is one of the most exclusive and prestigous areas of Atlanta. The average home is about $600k, and anything cheaper might be a fixer. Average apartment, one bedroom, about $800, and could be as much as $1000. Demographically, single professionals, families with stay at home moms driving luxury SUV's; culturally, predominately white, with Asian and Jewish very present. Few blacks here and there. One of the best Malls/shopping areas in the city, good restaurants and specialty markets. There's a train station right there in Dunwoody, in case you want to go to Midtown, Downtown, Buckhead and not have to deal with traffic. Several private schools, which is a common choice for a lot of parents, and good public schools too. If you're thinking of moving to Dunwoody, and you have the money, go for it.
