Or Duluth - lots of apts and diverse but also home to very nice subdivisions (St. Marlo, Country, Sugarloaf Country Club)
Same with Lilburn - home of Parkview HS, which as the highiest % of Indian students.
Same with Suwanee - Asians, Indians, Blacks, Whites,
Norcross...blah, blah, blah

And add all of Forsyth Country to this list. S. Forsyth is mostly white, nice subdivisions, and crosses into Suwanee, Duluth (Gwinnett), Alpharetta (Fulton), and a town in Cherokee. Central Forsyth looks like a so called $hithole - lots of hispanics, and poor whites. N. Forsyth is rural.

I think Lawrenceville has done an outstanding job on their downtown location. Much better than what was in the past. Granted, E. Lawrenceville is a little rough, but all in all not to bad of a location.
The Avenue's of Web Ginn are located in Lawrenceville also.
Lawrenceville is nothing like E. Norcross, Gwinnett Place, and Stone Mountain.
As far as schools? Government schools are government schools.

The comment about schools communicates nothing except a prejudice against public education so large that it admits of no capability of discernment in this domain. Fair enough, if you're so prejudiced against public schools that you take no interest in them, then naturally they'll seem all the same to you.
One might equally well say in regard to distinguishing between Lawrenceville and the other areas that well, southern towns are southern towns.

To answer one of your questions, the Glen at Simonton is in EAST Gwinnett, not South Gwinnett. It's about five miles from The Avenue at Webb Ginn.
Also, keep in mind that if you consider a home off of Sweetgum Road (just a skip from Simonton), you'll be in the Dacula school district. I LOVE the Sweetgum area of Lawrenceville, because it's central to everything. You are only a mile from 316, downtown Lawrenceville (incredible dining, family events, etc) and all highways meet about one mile from this area (Hwy.20, Hwy.120, Hwy 124). So, consider driving about a mile north of the Glen at Simonton and check out a great location off Sweetgum Road.
Gwinnett has been getting a bad rap in the press, but it's mostly an unfair representation due to a few bad areas.

Further from the truth. Towns and States are much different by way of life.
Government schools on the other hand are all under the same mandates, same feel good content, teachers who due to government are not allowed to teach, and over control by beaucrats who's only goal is the continuation of dumbing down for the emotions of the student. Heck, according to the Department of Education (another useless beaucracy) there is a movement afoot to do away with zero's or test scores from students that fail. Nothing below 50% is the mantra, so little Johnny may "feel" better about himself.
Maybe I could say that government schools are slightly different in other states as NJ is the best example. Over 13k in tax dollars per student per year. Some counties have over 10, yes 10 (Burlington for example) super's all at 200k plus per year running the NEA controlled state of affairs. NJ has the #1 graduation rate in the country, Rah, Rah! Nevermind that Johnny cannot read his diploma, never mind that Sarah cannot even make change for a dollar, but they know how to demonstrate about fairness, or for that matter automatically call one names or make false accusations with the "P'" word towards others eh! But the point is, even with the massive NEA government school, NJ still ranks lower in SAT test scores than many other states.
In short, I would wager to say you will find many youth with different abilities, mostly from active siblings, mentors, and parents providing constant direction, discipline, and self-education. I doubt strongly that government schools had much to do with it. Well, if your talking high school football, feel good emotions, and "expressing feelings" then maybe your correct there. Heck, you can see it in the expressions of frustrations in many teachers of secondary education that they are not allowed to teach the 3 R's anymore and God help them if they send Johnny home to change his clothes or pull his pants up around his arse, then the prejudice police will be out full force for their head.
Case in point there was the long term Dacula High School teacher who was fired for "failing" the wonderful football star for sleeping in class by his Daddy who would rather see Dacula HS's football star play than pay, or the current rift going on with the Gwinnett County Superintendent, who's head is now on the line for looking into maintaining discipline in our government schools. For that, he is being sued for Prejudice by Gwinnett's lovely NAACP.
So yep, government schools are government schools. For that, I guess I am one big P word.
So, back to topic. Lawrenceville has a nice downtown and some good areas
Regards

Sorry, I wasn't aware that the English word "prejudice" had become too highly charged for every day use. I wasn't trying to be insulting, just to observe that your comment suggested strong preconceived opinions not entirely based on facts. Your elaboration hasn't changed my assessment.

Your ok Rainy. Actually like debating you
Everything on this board is mostly opinion but many of the items listed above from discipline in schools, failing students, symbolism over substance, and the example of the NJ school system is factual.
It's ok, maybe the rainy day will see the light of sunshine someday. Your ok in my book

I Left the Gwinnett NAACP a long voicemail today discussing my displeasure with this foolishness. And I am black. By the way, Jorge, the NAACP head of stupidity, is Hispanic - not even black
