Default Cheapest House Prices in what Atlanta Suburbs?

We are in Viginia and now looking to relocate to atlanta region. We need advice on best home costs in suburbs of Atlanta. Are there any other areas that you can suggest with cheap housing prices? I know Fayetteville has been mentioned to me before, anywhere else within 40 mile radius of city that has potential for growing and has some dirt cheap home pricing? Please advise, we're basically looking for best bang for the buck. no kids so schools don't matter, no daily commute to office as we work from home office, just want big house and nice land for little dollars that's within maybe 40 miles radius of the city. Please list suggested areas we should check out, thanks so much!

Hi there -

It depends on your idea of cheap. Do you have a price range in mind? And define what you mean by "big house" and "nice land". If you are a little more specific, people will be able to help you out.

I'm actually asking for neighborhoods or counties that seem to have typical cheaper homes, so i was asking what are the cheaper counties/cities to look for real estate? every county i'm sure has cheap and expensive homes, i just want to know which counties tend to have lower house pricing. Our house price will really determine the location, we're looking for a 5 bedroom home with a min. 3/4 acre, and want to know the best/cheapest areas to look. Can anyone tell me what counties or cities I should be looking in for the best deals?

You might find relevant FYI in 'Georgia Trend'-- search their archives.

Here is one article>>>
http://www.georgiatrend.com/features...-atlanta.shtml

At <ajc.com> --online local paper--they provide quick links to home sales/real estate--select the metro county of your choice.

Map of metro Atlanta counties>>>

Those located further from the 'Perimeter'/heart of the city will likely have less expensive land. ie--Henry, Cherokee, Dawson, Newton, Bartow, Barrow, Carroll--Atlanta is expanding in all directions---more expensive real estate to the north.

Although I don't know what you consider "cheap", you might want to check out Henry county.. locust grove, hampton, Mcdonough or stockbridge

Yes, henry county does seem cheaper than the others. Also, I found a great site that gives stats on all the real estate per city etc which i'm finding very helpful.

just type in a city in the search box and then it gives you all the stats you could want, some include:

- medium home price
- average price per sq ft
- price trends over the years
- average sale price
- average list price
- school stats
- active listings
- number of sales
etc etc!

also when looking at the stats, take note of the average list price and average sales price, you'll notice the sales prices are lower in some cities which means you maybe can give lower offers on a house and still get it. Looks like the south counties might be the best buyers market, but i'm no expert so read the data and interpret however you see fit ;o). Here's the site link for douglasville:

Fayetteville surely DOES NOT have "dirt cheap" housing prices.
