Hi, I have always wanted to live in Atlanta, and would like to know if it is a nice place to live and go to college? I have heard that the crime rate and poverty are high, but I keep hearing as well, that it is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Is it expensive to live in Atlanta? Do the jobs pay well? Is the city real segregated?

what parts of the city are attractive and what parts are not, so that if I decide to move to Atlanta, I will know where and where not to go. Thanks and I appreciate your feedback.

Hi Daniel,
Do you know which college you will be attending? I attended GSU and I lived in Marietta (just off Powers Ferry Road) at the time because city living was not for me. I drove into the city and timed my classes to avoid being in the morning rush hour. To reduce my living expenses I always had a room mate and that cut down on expenses and allowed me to live in a nicer and what I felt was a safer place than if I was paying for everything myself. Though I recognize that no place is totally safe. I lived in Atlanta for 5 years from 1989-1994 and now, I'm getting ready to move back. Because of it's size there is diversity in everything from the people, jobs and housing. Of all the cities I've lived in Charleston, SC; Ann Arbor, MI; Mystic, CT and Atlanta, Atlanta is my favorite thus far and hence the reason I'm moving back.
