Question Nice restaurant for parents 50th anniversary...need suggestions!

Hi! I'm from FL and my brothers and I are planning a 50th anniversary dinner for our parents in Atlanta in December. My older brother lives there, but I don't trust his opinion and taste for choosing a nice restaurant. His idea of nice...isn't what we are looking for.

Here is what I'm looking for:
1. Any cuisine. Most of us aren't picky...we like Italian, Chinese, American, Mexican, Soul food, etc (maybe a place that has a variety so everyone is satisfied)...but good food.
2. A nice atmosphere maybe a place that has its own banquet room that can hold about 15 people (Not a requirement).
4. Price range between $18 - $25 a plate for a sit down dinner.
5. We may be intrested in a place that has some subtle jazz in the background, but not a place that is a bar/lounge scene where music is too loud to talk. (Not a requirement)
6. My brother lives in Acworth, so we would be interested in any areas nearby, like Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna. Although I know Atlanta would have the better options.
So basically, if anyone has any ideas for good food and atmosphere at a good price in the Atlanta area...I would greatly appreciate it. Also if you know that the restaurant has a website that would be helpful, so I can take a look at it online and share info with the rest of the family.
Thanks in advance!

Here's a link to the 1848 House in the Marietta area. I'm not certain this is what you are looking for.>>>

My choice for Italian would be Provino's in Kennesaw, just off the freeway at Town Center. Soft lighting, subtle jazz - not too loud, group seating in classy decor. Prices $10 - 20? All you can eat salad and rolls. Good food. Better than or just as good as Olive Garden, imo, which is across the street.

Across the street and down a couple lights is Bahama Breeze. Classy tropical atmosphere for an anniversary, prices ~$13- $25? Great tropical drinks and interesting dishes, not ho-hum. Good desserts. Better "event" atmosphere than Provino's, but not too loud. Has heated patio with musician. You could get a big table across from one or two booths.

Buggaboo Creek a few doors down is fun...in a redneck sort of way, with pop-up talking animal heads. Cute, but not where I'd want to be on my 50'th.

There's also Copelands and Carraba's on the same stretch. Can't recommend Copelands. High priced food on budget tables and chairs. Also don't recommend Red Lobster, Joe's Crab Shack. There are others.

Longhorns has prices in your range, and pretty decent atmosphere.

The Melting Pot...if you want expensive dippers.

It didn't sound like what the OP wanted anyway.

How about Ray's on the River for a Sunday Brunch? They have a live jazz band. Fresh Seafood, Prime Steak, Award Winning Wines It is a beautiful setting just like Canoe.

I am not a big fan of chain restaurants, but the food at Maggianno's is always great with a bunch of people. Perhaps you could reserve a private room? Maggiano's Little Italy | Italian-American Dining I would order family style as the food just keeps coming.

I vouch for this place, but keep in mind the OP said between $18-$25 for dinner per person. While Canoe's entrees (some of them) fall in this price range, that wouldn't include drinks or appetizers, etc. So it might wind up being too $$ for them. It is a nice place, though.

Aspen Signature Steak place is pretty good. A lot of the dinner stuff falls into that price range. It has a neat West Coast rustic upscaley lodge feel to it inside. There's a location in Marietta and also the Avenue West Cobb: Sedgwick Restaurant Group

Otherwise I'm not qualified to suggest anything. My idea of a good time are fried Spam balls with BBQ sauce.

In Acworth, check out Henry's Louisiana Grill. Henry's Louisiana Grill in Historic Downtown Acworth, Georgia
It is good, has louisiana jazz in the background last time I was there, fits your price range, and has more than just cajun food (grill, i.e. filet, chicken, etc, but etoufee if you are in the mood)

Also look at South City Kitchen in Smyrna/Vinings. Fun menu, atmosphere and perhaps not as pricey as Canoe, tho I'd agree that Canoe for an anniversary is a great suggestion.
