I heard a couple days ago (and i was meaning to ask a question on here when I did) , but I heard that South Fulton County and Douglas County was going to join into one county and North Fulton County and Cobb ( I think...) is suppose to merge into one county.

If It does I hopes it happens after I graduate because I have a bad feeling that if it does the schools would serious be messed up

I believe if you went to the Cobb Commission and proposed that they merge with Fulton (any part of it) you would be met with a shotgun aimed at your forehead. LOL

I don't think Cobb would have any problem with getting any of the North Fulton cities...

And why in the heck would Douglas want South Fulton? Remember when the area that has now incorporated into Chathoochee Hill Country tried to secede from Fulton and get annexed into Coweta? That is the best part of South Fulton and Coweta still didn't want it.

Clayton County would be a better fit with South Fulton anyway. Let's start that rumor.

Has this rumor risen from the north part of Fulton wanting to go back to its Milton County roots? I thought the incorporation of all the areas in North Fulton was the answer to local control. Why do they want to become a separate county as well? Is it the school system?

I propose that they let Milton be resurrected and let the remainder of Fulton and DeKalb merge. That seems more logical to me, but I don't live in either one.

How about this? Let all the area in Dekalb and Fulton south of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody become a consolidated city of Atlanta, that would give the central city a population over a million. But my reasons are so that Atlanta would have a larger central city population more in line with the metro area and look better in the national rankings. Since I don't live there, I wouldn't have to put up with the inevitable mess, but I still think it would be a better fit for the overall metro area.

Nah - they're going to improve once they start their new advertising slogan for the County. "Clayton - we bring a touch of New Orleans to YOU!".

Or.. not.

I think you're referring to a post I made here the other day... I didn't mean to scare you. I said I read about one idea where Cobb and N.Fulton would merge into a super county (by GA standards) since we have the maximum # of counties allowed by the constitution of GA. It was nothing more than an article, but it was interesting to say the least.

It talked about how if that happened, it would be one of the wealthiest counties in the US if not THE wealthiest. Not to mention one of the best school districts in the US (and the best in the state) since it would have East Cobb AND N.Fulton schools. South Fulton would be in for a rude awakening if that happened... Fulton would go from having high SAT scores to abysmal results overnight, as well as going bankrupt. City of Atlanta could probably wing it for a while... they'd just raise taxes on Buckhead, then Buckhead would try to secede THEN it would go bankrupt, LOL.

But, the article was entirely hypothetical.
