Hey, new here-
Decided to ask for suggestions, recommendations and advice about places around southwest Atlanta or Morrow/Jonesborro (near Clayton State)
Im looking for apartments that are based on income or affordable living that are located in safe areas to raise my child...
Thanks in advance.
Links to any apartments or website with listing of apartments will also help out a lot. I've already check HUD website not too helpful.

I definitely don't recommend living in Clayton County (Morrow, Jonesboro) unless your child is very young (elementary grade level at most) and you don't mind the Clayton County school accreditation issue (Clayton just made national news in losings its public school accreditation). However, for convenience sake to go to CSU, you might want to consider the area if you are just renting. There are apartments new and old scattered around the area, but I have no knowledge of which ones are better than others. Driving around the area to see for yourself would be best.

To find more apartments in Clayton, just google "apartments clayton county georgia" or something along those lines, plenty of site info:
Clayton County Apartments (http://www.4wallsinatlanta.com/clayton-county-apartments.htm - broken link)

I cannot comment on particular apartments in the area and my knowledge of Southwest Atlanta is scant at best. Maybe someone else can answer that for you.

I would consider South Fulton County (College Park, Hapeville) or nearby Henry County (Stockbridge, Ellenwood) if you are concerned about the public school situation.

Immediate areas with higher crime rates are Forest Park, and SW and SE Atlanta in general, just keep that in mind. You can enter zip codes or city info on websites to pull up the crime rates and see which ones are lower.

Good luck on your move.

I'm in the exact same situation, new to area, single mother, Full-time student at CSU and looking for an income based apartment complex in a safe area near the school. I also looked at the HUD website and there was only 1 apt complex in Morrow. I live with my parents in Mcdonough right now and this is a nice area but there is nothing I can afford in this area. If you find something please let me know where!

I will be sure to do so if I find something near. Please do the same! Are you working near the school or in Mcdonough?
