My husband will be relocating to work on an airport project for the next year and needs an apt during the week. Schools are not a consideration but wants someplace safe, walking/biking trails, within 20 min commute to airport. 1BR/1BA max $1600/mo (incl utilities). Prefers south of airport due to less commuter traffic. He’s looked at Peachtree City. He has to move on this pretty quickly. Thx!

As a community with an extremely low crime rate, and an extensive network of multi-purpose trails that is located within a relatively very short commuting distance of the Atlanta Airport (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport), PTC (Peachtree City) appears to be the best option for the stated qualities that your husband is looking for in a suburban community that is within relatively very close proximity of the Atlanta Airport.

Because of its relatively very close location to the ATL Airport, it’s extremely low crime rate and outdoor recreational amenities like its extensive network of multi-purpose trails, PTC is an extremely popular living option for employees who must commute to and from work at the ATL Airport.

From what I understand, I think that there are only about seven or so apartment communities located in PTC.

Camden Peachtree City Apartments and Balmoral Village appear to be two of the only communities that offer apartment dwellings within your husband’s stated budget of no more than $1600/month for a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment and utilities.

Camden Peachtree City Apartments offers rents that start at about $1400/month for a 1BR/1BA apartment dwelling…

Balmoral Village offers rents that start at about $1450/month for a 1BR/1BA apartment dwelling…

Wisdom Woods is a smaller and more mature apartment complex that apparently currently is offering a 2BR/1BA apartment dwelling for $1,144/month…

I guess that one notable thing to keep in mind about PTC is that the one-way commute time between PTC and the ATL Airport will be at least slightly outside of your husband’s desired 20-minute one-way commute time to and from the ATL Airport.

PTC will be at least about a 25-30 minute one-way drive to and from the ATL Airport with no traffic delays.

But it will be very important to understand that that 25-30 minute non-delay one-way drive time between PTC and the ATL Airport will (particularly during peak traffic hours) often pale in comparison to the significantly longer one-way drive times between a location like the ATL Airport and Atlanta’s extremely heavily developed and populated Northside suburbs and exurbs where most of the Atlanta metropolitan region’s population lives.

So it will be important to keep in mind that a roughly 25-30 minute-plus one-way commute between PTC and the ATL Airport will be a breeze compared to the significantly longer commutes that many metro Atlantans and North Georgians must frequently experience and endure.

In the seemingly unlikely event that your husband may not be able to find something he likes in PTC, other suburban communities within reasonable commuting time and distance of the ATL Airport like Newnan, Fayetteville and even Douglasville might be worth a look, but PTC definitely appears to be one of your husband’s absolute very best options.

B2R is exactly right as usual. Peachtree City is the spot for your husband. He also should check out AirBnB for guest house and condo rentals in Peachtree City. There are some gems available there.

Check out Hapeville; it's an elegant little town; it doesn't even seem like you are in a large metro area.

Born 2 Roll's advice is excellent as always.

I'll add that, in Peachtree City, your husband could also look into Retreat at Peachtree City, which appears to have some 1-bedroom apartments available for around $1400 (not including utilities) for a 12-month lease term. An advantage of this apartment community, over the others in PTC mentioned by Born 2 Roll, is that it is on the north side of PTC, which results in a slightly quicker commute to the Airport (versus somewhere in central or south PTC). Furthermore, Retreat at Peachtree City is across the street from Kroger, Target, and a few restaurants, and it has direct access to PTC's extensive network of walking/cycling/golf cart paths.

In Newnan, your husband could look into Promenande at Newnan Crossing. Though this apartment community does not list their prices publicly, it's likely that a studio apartment may be available for around $1400 (not including utilities), though their 1-bedroom apartments are likely too expensive -- y'all would want to contact their leasing team for current pricing. Promenade at Newnan Crossing would be a good choice for your husband because it's on Newnan's LINC Trail, which is good for walking and cycling. Furthermore, it's across the street from Kroger as well as a few fast-food restaurants, and it's super close to I-85 (resulting in a relatively simple commute to the Airport).

Furthermore, in Newnan, your husband could also consider Newnan Lofts, which appears to have some studio and 1-bedroom apartments available in the $1300 to $1400 range. Newnan Lofts would be a good choice as it is also on Newnan's LINC Trail (walking/cycling). Furthermore, Newnan Lofts is walkable to Downtown Newnan/Newnan Square and all of its excellent restaurants. Unfortunately, it's not as close to I-85 as it could be -- the commute would be a couple minutes longer from Newnan Lofts to the Airport versus Promenade at Newnan Crossing, for example.

Finally, your husband could consider apartment communities in southern Smyrna which are close to both I-285 and the Silver Comet Trail, which is a hundred-mile-long bike trail; he could look into apartment communities such as MAA West Village and Elevate West Village which may have studio apartments available in the $1400 to $1500 range, or an older apartment community such as Park Valley Apartments which may have studio and 1-bedroom apartments available in the $1100 to $1300 range. These apartment communities are super close to I-285, resulting in commutes to the Airport as quick as 20 minutes on a good day... though a typical rush hour commute would be closer to 30 minutes due to higher traffic volumes, roughly equivalent to travel times from PTC and Newnan. Furthermore, these apartment communities are practically within walking distance of the Silver Comet Trail, and each is essentially walkable to some restaurants and grocery stores (Sprouts, Goodness Grocery). It should be noted that Smyrna is north of the Airport, instead of south as your husband prefers.
