sweat mountain in east cobb is also worthy of mention. it is basically the only thing in the area so it can get very crowded, to the point you simply have to leave. but ive had good luck there depending on when one goes

Piedmont Park has a separate area for small dogs that is completely fenced and gated so the larger dogs aren't allowed.

I've heard that Grant Park has an off-leash area for dogs, but I haven't checked it out yet. I know there is a small risk involved, but I take my daughter to a few of the small parks around town (a couple of them south of I20) and let her run around off the leash. My favorite one is Lenox Road Park, on Lenox Rd between Virginia-Highland and Woodland Hills near the train track that crosses Lenox Rd. It's like being out in the deep woods - very wooded with nice natural boundaries.

We also frequent a little-league baseball diamond in East Point that is completely fenced, and have found that other residents of the area bring their dogs to it as well. If you can find one similar it is really a neat place to let your child off the leash and run crazy for a few minutes.

There's a fairly new dog park at East Roswell Park, on Fouts Road in East Roswell, just off Holcomb Bridge about 2.5 miles east of GA 400. It's been in place for a few months now, but only officially opened a couple of weeks ago.

I like the dog park in Milam Park (Clarkston). It just opened in October. It's fully ffenced, ahs water available, lots of trees, and a good group of dogs and sensible people.

Where is the little league baseball diamond in East Point? I live here in Jefferson Park and would love to know where to take my dog.

I seem to do better on Peachtree Industrial--this Pinckneyville Park has to be 'not too far' from Jones Bridge--I used to go there with my other lhasa.

The Pinckneyville Park is off S Old P'tree--then you turn onto Avalon Ridge--must be a new street. I'll just have to go and find out.

The closest is Mason Mill and the W D Thompson park--lol--my first elementary school now home to LA Fitness/Caribou coffee. Margaret Harris herself was my principal. 'Dynamic DeKalb'.

Thanks again.

Speaking of Margaret Harris, the field that is adjacent to that school is quite popular with locals as an 'unofficial' dog park. People in the neighborhood have been taking their dogs there for years. I think the county has even been approached about making it official...the field has served no other purpose for years, as the school no longer uses it.
I remember when MH Elem opened...so cool and modern. The Kittredge kids were so jealous!

Cantrell Park in Kennesaw has a wonderful new dog park, with separate areas for large and small dogs, respectively. Plenty of room for them to run and play, nice dog fountains, plenty of places for owners to sit...it's awesome!
