My family, wife an one child, and I will be moving to Atlanta in November. I will be taking a research position at Emory, the pay is not bad, but not the best yet. My wife will be looking for a job a couple of months after we move and have found adequate day care for our daughter. I have been looking on craigslists and aptment finders.com for apartments in Decatur and have found a couple but after reading their reviews, I'm not so sure about them. We would ideally like to move close to Emory, so I can walk or bike to work to save on gas, but we are not opposed to moving farther away if there is convenient access to the marta rail nearby. Our current housing budget is around $700/month. If anyone knows of anything meeting that specification or has any suggestions of where else to look I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

In a previous thread a poster mentione Emory Woods Apartments>>>
Emory Woods - EveryAptMapped - Decatur Apartments

Emory Gardens Condos were also mentioned and you might contact them about the possibility of renting.

Both of these recommendations were found in this thread which may have other FYI relevant to your needs>>>
Best area for a poor Emory post-doc to live

You could also contact 'The Park' aparmentments on Briarcliff Rd. This is an older complex minutes away from the main campus. Theoretically you could walk or ride a bike but it might be stressful as this is a heavily traveled route to Emory. The Cliff shuttles and MARTA might be better alternatives.

The area north of Emory is often referred to as Toco Hill or Executive Park--North Druid Hills Rd, Briarcliff Rd, Clairmont Rd. There are several older neighborhoods in which you might find homes to rent for $1000-$1500.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. Also for anyone who might read this, what does everyone think of the Eastlake area. I've found a couple of place there that are well priced.
