What a lot of people don't understand is that the older, well established ranch neighborhoods surrounding North DeKalb are probably amongst some of our best hidden "jewels" in the area. Still affordable, safe and friendly.

That's going to be a very nice place to live for years to come. I walk my dog at Mason Mill and we have enjoyed the new trail which connects to Medlock Park.
If they add a few more restaurants and different shopping options it will be hard to beat.
There are plans for improvements to Mason Mill Park, too.

Have you heard anything re: the Costco that has been trying to move in? The last I heard, I think they received the variance they were looking for.
As an aside, I noticed the other day that the sign for North DeKalb on North Druid still lists "Macy's/Rich's" as an anchor! The place is getting a little dated......

Does anyone else remember elementary school field trips to Mathis Dairy to milk Rosebud the Cow? Or to the Frito Lay plant on Peachtree Industrial Blvd?

Yes I remember going to milk Rosebud. I think I received a purplish pin that indicated that I had accomplished the task. Later on I seem to remember that there were some small amusement type rides at the facility too.
My "best friend" that lived down the street from me, his father worked at the Frito Lay factory. They always gave out Frito Lay products during Halloween!

Somehow I think I took a class or two of 2nd graders to Mathis Dairy but did not do any milking myself--I was glad.
I know I went to Frito Lay as a child and to a Coca Cola bottling plant downtown.
