I can't remember where that was located. Something wants me to say Piedmont Park, but then I might be thinking of the Piedmont Driving Club.

Actually, it was downtown in the Fairlie-Poplar district. Some very generic second-rate hotel stands where it used to.

Now you have my curiosity piqued. (or is it peaked? How I hate to not be sure, but don't feel like looking it up, lol)
I have been googling trying to find a picture of the old Atlanta Athletic Club building but to no avail. I see where it was located on Carnegie Way, but no pictures on their website or on Atlanta History Center's website. You got any ideas where to look?

Atlanta Airport 1961-1980
The first ATL airport that I visited was classic 60s design with beautiful huge 'rotundas' at the end of the concourses ... with large stainless steel sconces that illuminated the ceilings. It was dramatic, yet calming and elegant. The main terminal was located where the Renaissance Hotel is located off Virginia Avenue...
Here are some photos of the airport prior to 1980 and some advertisements of the "new" [current] airport that opened in September 1980:

Concerts at the Omni Arena. I saw more than a few as a college kid and young adult during the '80s. Also, not that I really miss them, but anyone remember Zayre and Richway? They were all over Atlanta.

I remember the Zayre on Ponce De Leon (where Cracker Field was) and the one on Piedmont. The Piedmont location later became the Atlanta Flea Market, then was torn down for the Lindbergh MARTA station.
Before the Zayre was built there, it was the location of the Piedmont Drive-In.
There was a Richway on N Druid Hills Rd, where the Target Greatland is now. The current location of the Scott Flea Market in Forest Park was a Richway as well.

Yep - I ditto the Oxford Books on Pharr Road. That place was like going into Disney Land for book and magazine lovers. A big loss when it closed down.
