Default Thinking about buying a nice affordable traditional styled home in a decent Atlanta area

I will be seperating from the military in Feb and looking to purchase a home in Atlanta area...somewhat familiar with the area but not all that much seeing how Atlanta has grown rapidly. Im looking for a nice traditional home thats in somewhat an affordable diverse area. Any suggestions?

Metro Atlanta is hugely sprawling, and the traffic is appalling. Therefore the oft-repeated advice on this forum is, where will you and/or other family members be working? It's vital to your quality of life to live within a tolerable commute of your job.

If you don't have kids, I'd go for a craftsman style home off Bolton Rd between Marietta Blvd and James Jackson Parkway. It's close enough to downtown/midtown that you will save money on gas, and Buckhead, Midtown, Smyrna and Vinings are pushing that area up, since they surround it.
