Keep in mind there was not a special event to speak of uptown this night either. This train became even more crowded by the time we arrived in South End which is just only a mile away from where I shot the video. Charlotte's light rail carries almost 2,000 passengers per mile a day. This is one of the nations most successful light rail start ups ever. By comparison, MARTA carries about 3,800 passengers per mile. Given the fact that MARTA is 30 years older, fully built out, and 4 times more expensive, you can see why Charlotte's LYNX is getting attention. A fully built out light rail system can pull heavy rail numbers if it is done correctly.

As far as hotels, Trump had proposed a 900 ft plus hotel near Charlotte's South End. The economy stalled the project, but it was not cancelled. If the economy turns around, we could see this project come up soon. At any rate, Atlanta is not the only one building impressive real estate down south. It used to be that way a decade ago, but not any more.

Here is a link to that Trump tower

Well Atlanta will continue to be on top pulling in more luxury 5 star hotels with 2nd intercontinental and our 3rd ritz going into midtown we already have our sales office open for Trump towers which is going to take construction right by art center Train station. The Light rail in charlotte doesnt cover enough miles to pick up heavy rail numbers. maybe if the train went to the airport then maybe the numbers would be a lil higher. The real eastate that you guys are getting Atlanta has already had

I think you are counting MARTA's bus and rail ridership together and coming up with double the passengers per mile. If you are doing this don't worry, it is a common rookie mistake. If I am wrong, it is only because my source was inaccurate.
You're wrong...get over it. You have done this same thing throughout this thread - "accidentally" misquoted numbers to support your RIDICULOUS argument. You can't win...don't you get it?

You have been wrong on several counts when quoting "statistics" in this thread. I don't think it's your sources, I think it's you.
I have less posts than you and more reps. Haven't you noticed? This is because I am not biased. I tell it like it is. I also know that many sources are bought and thus flawed. You have to be very careful when choosing your sources. I think highly of Atlanta. I also know what the differences are between Charlotte and Atlanta. The general public in Atlanta are under the impression that Charlotte is farther behind Atlanta than it really is. This is nothing mer than civic pride and there is nothing wrong with this at all.

My point is there is a good reason why a newcomer would ask the question "Atlanta or Charlotte?". It is you that can't understand why someone would ask such a question. Civic pride can be blinding my friend.

You tell lies...you post obviously manipulated numbers that are just plain wrong. There is no civic pride here...I GREW UP IN CHARLOTTE, Einstein. I love Charlotte...I hate you and people like you who try to promote their city when it isn't justified. Charlotte IS far behind Atlanta...the majority in this forum agree. Now, go back to your little medium-sized city and revel in your medium-sized amenities. I'm tired of you.

That is correct. It may never get built actually. They are wanting to do a busway system to the airport. I think this is silly, but hopefully things will change as more funding becomes available. At any rate, don't laugh to hard at Charlotte's airport. You guys have the world's busiest, but Charlotte's is the 9th busiest in the country and is now a top 30 in the world.

Also, think about what you said "daily ridership is at least 10 times that of LYNX". If daily ridership is 10 times greater and your system's miles of track is 5 times greater, then passenger's per mile is only about double, right?

You have just said the same thing I said and you did not even notice it.

What? You don't even make sense anymore...AT LEAST 10 times...it's more like 14 times. I'm not clarifying anything for this idiot anymore...you're pathetic and I'm done discussing this. You lose...

I gracefully accept your "strategic retreat". Next time, do your homework before you disagree with UrbanCharlotte!!!
