You dont live in outdoor malls. The development is not a mall people live and work there there is condos that sit on top of these stores i never scene a grocery store at a mall. Atlantic station is a city within a city with Highrise condos and buisneses. You only call it a outdoor mall because the development has retail. Giesha house Fox sports grill and DOlce Ten pen and the strip are all bar and restaurants in one you can dance drink and eat.
Oh no, I know what Atlantic Station is. The EpiCentre is actually a smaller version, and we have another under construction called Midtown; they are similar to many lifestyle centers we have in the suburbs, only they're urban versions. But I digress.
I should have been more specific. I was referring to the "retail portion" of Atlantic Station; you know, the "outdoor mall", LOL!!! Now, I know the club scence in Atlanta has hit rock bottom since the demise of Buckhead, but it is truly a sad day when the definition of "bangin nightlife" in the Atl has been reduced to "resturants" that try to pose as clubs after the diners leave. And if you think that translates to "better nightlife" than the EpiCentre you might want to get out of Atlanta a little more.
OMG!! The AJC must read City Data, because they certainly see a rivarly between the two cities. Very timely...

I knew something was fishy about this article, so I did some research on the journalist who wrote it. He use to live in Charlotte and worked for the Charlotte Observer. The article just seemed to put Atlanta's negatives against Charlotte's positives. Look at the Advantages that they say Charlotte has. Is this a joke? Do this guy have any idea about the projects planned or under construction in Atlanta? Charlotte is just finishing up the few skyscraper's that came from the boom days 2 years ago. There has't been a skyscraper proposed in Charlotte since then. The days of high-rise condo's popping up everywhere is over. They pretty much mention that in the article.
But the "rednecks," "hillbillies," and "trailer trash"--which really aren't anywhere in the vicinity, but I'll play along--haven't shot anyone at EpiCenter either.
I'm Black, and I dare not lump all Black folks into the "thug" category. So don't even try that one. You know there's a difference.
Right But I was responding to someone saying there were thugs at atlantic station. You know people judge folks on the way they dress. So they assume that because someone wears baggy clothes there thugs.
The way the state of Georgia treats y'all, I doubt it.
And read what the AJC has to say about the subject: Charlotte transit plans leave Atlanta in slow lane | ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/saporta/stories/2008/03/30/saporta_0331.html - broken link)
Plans right ? is it Underconstruction? And its light rail service. The only plans Atlanta has right now is the beltline. The same people may not be in office 30 years from from now.Until the Number of miles and rider ship and stations out number Atlanta then ill say it has left Atlanta in the Slow lane

Typical of the AJC these days. A flashy headline with little evidence of this supposed rivalry within the article, which is essentially about Charlotte.
I do find it interesting that the Georgia legislature is in some ways responsible for Charlotte becoming the banking town that it is due to the state's archaic banking laws at the time. That the Georgia legislature caused harm to metro Atlanta businesses is also typical.

What night life has hit rock bottom? Buckhead was not the only party place in Atlanta and since then there has been numerous clubs around atlanta decatur college park castleberry Underground and there is still some clubs and bars In Buckhead. When was the last time you partied in the A? And where is all the celebs that come here and live here party? since its hit rock bottom. So i guess you havent scene the spots behind the 1010 condo building? and what about all the spots for the Gay Community? Which Charlotte def lacks in that area there not that many spots for the gay community

Yep, a lot of people don't realize this (especially people who moved here in the last 15-20 years or so).
When NC "liberated" its banking laws, it allowed its banks to grow. They eventually gobbled up several of GA's major banks.
NCNB (Charlotte based) gobbled up C&S (Atlanta based) and became Nations Bank with later merged with Bank of America and settled on a headquarters in Charlotte (The Bank of America Plaza in North Downtown on North Avenue was originally called the C&S Plaza...the takeover happened while it was being constructed in the early 1990's.)
First Atlanta was also gobbled up by a NC bank (I forget which one...Wachovia, maybe?).
Atlanta was actually the financial capital of the Southeast and was poised to increase its financial dominance. But then...well, the rest is history. This didn't start happening until the late 1980's by the way.

The developments below were all "proposed" within the past 2 years, and the first two are already under construction. I post these not to say, ooh, ahh, look at our buildings, but rather to show that much of what many of you profess is little more than conjecture. You really don't know much about Charlotte at all. Its as if some of you throw things at the wall, just to see if it sticks. Saying Charlotte's days are done sounds good, but its not the fact. One thing that article failed to mention was that Charlotte also just beat out Atlanta for 200 engineering jobs from Toshiba. You guys might want to look in your rear view mirror more...
