Default Georgia Tech

Is the area around Ga. Tech(off-campus) safe for a young lady to walk around during the day or at night. I have a friend at church who is thinking about attending Georgia Tech and was wondering if the surrounding areas of the campus or in the city of Atlanta is a safe place to walk or drive during night. I am asking because I am concerned about her safety,I have never heard of anything bad happening on campus but I am sure she would want to venture outside the parameters of Georgia Tech, for example would going to the Varsity Restaurant be a safe thing for her to do as I amsure she would go with friends and not by herself.

It's an amazing school but the area can be sketchy. Campus is very well insulated and protected but surrounding neighborhoods aren't. I would take a trip and see for yourself. Plenty of students go and thrive and it's an excellent school to have on a resume. But like any urban area, you have to be very careful at night.
