Default Is it a really bad idea to work in Marietta but live in Conyers?

Okay... I know that may be a dumb question, but I may be working in Marietta. However, I really love the homes in Conyers. Is the commute THAT bad? If so, HOW bad is it?

Conyers to Marietta one way is 45 miles. Atlanta is between them, and Atlanta's traffic is among the worst in America or the world. You would be spending a lot of time in your vehicle in the mornings and in the afternoons and evenings. Bottom line - it is a terrible idea. There are plenty of nice areas to live that are convenient to Marietta.

Unless you have family or a church or some other anchoring reason in Conyers, I can't imagine living there and commuting to Marietta for the reasons listed in the previous post.

I lived in Marietta 14 years, can't imagine that there is anything about housing in Conyers that you can't find more and better of in Cobb County.

Conyers has the style of housing (Brick 2 story w/basements that has stucco accents) that I like in the price range (under $350,000) that I'm looking for. I have been looking in Marietta and the surrounding areas and don't see the same style of homes in that price range.

Look a little farther out, but close to Marietta...

-Cherokee County
-Paulding County
-Bartow County
-Kennesaw
-Acworth

I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Ok, but the thing is - you may get the home you want, but you won't be able to SEE it because you'll always be in your car commuting. What.. maybe on a decent traffic day, nearly two hours each way during rush hours? A little less on good days, and more on bad?

Only you can answer if that's how you want to spend your time, but most would answer "no". So, while you haven't yet found what you're looking for around Marietta, my bet is that somewhere in Cobb is the type of house you want in your price range, if you keep looking. Especially in today's market.

Sounds like you are describing every other house in Cobb County. Where have you looked specifically? Maybe in East Cobb it will cost more, but like others said, look at Kennesaw, Acworth, West Cobb, Powder Springs, even into Cherokee or Paulding.

Are you relocating from outside the area? Please take it from those who have lived with it, you really don't want that commute.
