Gas Prices Plummet
Are gas prices as low in metro Atlanta as they are here in Carroll County ? Just about every gas station here is selling regular gas for about $3.30. This morning most stations were selling it for about $3.70, so it dropped 40 cents in just a few hours !!!! Hopefully the trend continues.

I'm holding out until I get down to E. It seems the longer I wait, the better it will get. On my drive on 29 yesterday prices went from 3.79 to 3.59 within a couple of miles. With the way things are going $3 gas just might be here before we know it.

Oil is falling to astonishing lows as the spreading financial crisis affects the global economic outlook for oil demand. It's a two-edge sword. If our economy rebounds, expect oil to climb again.

I wouldn't call $86/barrel an "astonishing low". Oil was around $60/barrel just a couple of years ago, and was around $20/barrel just 10 years ago. Most analysts never thought that $145 oil was supported by the facts. We'll never see $20/barrel again soon, if ever, but $85 isn't that astonishing.

Remember, Atlanta gas prices are STILL among the highest in the nation, even higher than California, right now. It's actually ridiculous.

It is in comparison to $140/bbl this summer. That's a fairly sharp fall in just a few months! But, it could definitely be cheaper, and probably will be around $60 a bbl before stabilizing (that's a conservative estimate).

I paid $3.15 today, and heard rumors of a Shell station across town selling at $3.09.

Why is it that our prices are still higher than the national average? Even though prices are plummeting, it's still ridiculous to have our cost of living be lower than a lot of states but have higher gas than the national average.
