Strangely there are still "Kerry '04" stickers on cars in Boston.
|
That's because high housing costs, taxes, forced insurance, etc. has prevented anyone from affording a new car there :-P
Not to mention, it's not as much of a status symbol as it is here.

Talk is cheap.
What we have done wrong "to others"? Huh? Give me a break...you need a history lesson and some coffee.
Second, the incident that happened to RRD is unfortunate but has absolutely nothing to do with "the Republican Party in America". One or more rude and classless individuals acted in an inappropriate way. If you want to make some generalizations, think about the fact that many of the protests led by far left liberals are the ones that end up violent and with windows being busted and property damaged. How many Republicans have you seen protesting at the Dem convention or G8 summit, throwing bricks through store windows?
As to horrendous mistakes, there are plenty to go around for both political parties here. I found it most ironic that Jimmy Carter was on foreign soil making nasty comments about the Bush administration's handling of the economy. Talk about the wrong guy talking.

Disappear. Just disappear. Embarassing, yes ... embarassing. I don't need your permission to have anything investigated in MY neighborhood. I'll do whatever I feel is necessary in MY neighborhood to protect whomever I feel is violated. Clear enough for you? AND I will as soon as I get back Sunday and I'll start Monday morning. I know ALL the merchants and managers in that ENTIRE area by first name.

Nope...I won't disappear. Tough.
Is that how you deal with people that disagree with you? That's right in line with the ignorant folks who acted out against RRD.
I never commented, nor said anything about you "needing permission" for anything. You know important people...I don't care. I was commenting on your off topic political comments that frankly had no place in this thread.

You bet. Plenty of 'em. Called 'trailer-trash' ... or white trash with "little bit of money".

Rainy, I understand what motivated you to put the bumper sticker on your car, and I agree you certainly have the right to do so without being harassed. I'm not sure what it is about politics that brings out the nastiness in people. I prefer to show my support with my vote, but I detest labels of any sort, including designers who think I should wear something with their name emblazoned across the front.

Sadly, I think that's true.
Maybe we should all embrace the Amish lifestyle. They don't have to worry about car bumper stickers on their cars, and the resulting political tensions, because many of the traditional Amish communities in Pennsylvania don't have cars. I do think the Amish in Pennsylvania may perhaps be onto something. These folks live simple and humble lives, and reach out to members of their community during difficult times.

As far as I am concerned, most of America has been pushed almost to the breaking point. Collectively as a nation, we're witnessing radical changes in our country that are very, very, very disturbing.
George W. Bush promised to be a uniter-- not a divider. Of course we all know by now, that what we got was a supreme divider. Due to Bush's ........., and ........, and ........., and .........., and ............, and ........., and..........., America is now a deeply divided country. In fact it is so divided that you can slice the tension with a knife.
Therefore what you have witnessed, up close and personal at an East Cobb movie theatre, is hardly surprising. Not in this politically-charged environment.
Kudos to you, RainyRainyDay. We can only change our country by taking one step at a time. Obama bumper stickers on your cars, and an Obama sign in your yard, are noble efforts on your part to actually change the direction of this misguided country.

Rswlguy, I wish I was in Amsterdam right now. Do have a great time there.
I have a friend who was in Geneva a couple of weeks ago. I'll be seeing him Tuesday, and I'm anxious to hear about his trip.
