Default relocating to atl, apartment hunting help

Hi everyone!! i'm a native atlantan, who is moving back from the md/va/dc area after 5 years away. i visited last week and everything seems the same, but just more built up, its no longer trees and woods everywhere, but housing communities, and shopping centers.
when i move back, i will be working at different places throughout the city on a daily basis, (but my hours will be 9-9, so i should only have to worry about morning rush hour) initially, and then i will be working at 1 home office after probably a month or 2 (then my hours will be 8-5 or 1-9), although i don't have a location as of yet, all i know is that it will be in the metro atlanta area (either alpharetta, near southlake mall clayton county, but it can be in either gwinett, clayton, or cobb (small possiiblity) counties. i can choose to wait for a position closer to wear i live though, and just continue to float, until there is an opening close by. after reading several post and looking at the various apartment webistes, i'm giving serious consideration to the vinings area. it seems close to everything, and the school system in cobb seems very solid i have a 5 year old son also, so i'm looking for an area that is family friendly, safe, but isn't soo far from everything, and is in close proximity to places like shopping, groceries, resteraunts, ect. i have a car, so i will not be dependent on public transportation, although i would like it as an option to not have to drive (and i know that marta doesn't extend into cobb, thats the only disadvantage i can see)

when searching for apartments, and after looking at the school system, i also would like an updated open kitchen. i would like to purchase soon, but figured renting would be best so that i can get a feel for the neighborhood, traffic, schools, ect. so i figure i'll rent for about a year, see how the market does, and save. i've read most of the posts on here and most people it seem to suggest vinings, dunwoody, and sandy springs as areas to live in. well, i've come across wildwood ridge apartments in vinings. does anyone know about this place? when i called they seemed very helpful, and they are renovating the apartments, which is exactly what i'm looking for. i was initially looking at the vinings mountain complex, with the mountain, lakes, and view of vinings mountain apartments, but wheen i looked on apartment ratings, and even the posts on here, everyone had something negative to say. same with posts, with the paper thin walls and bad management comments. i'll be looking at apartments in november, to move in january or february, but i like to know a little background about any places that i give some serious consideration too. i'm a single african american female with a son, i'm willing to pay up to $1100 for a 2 bedroom, but would prefer to pay less. i'll pay more, if it's something that i really like, that has everything i'm looking for. sorry this was sooo long but i tried to anticipate any questions that would be asked . any help would be appreciated. also, if anyone can suggest any other areas, that would be appreciated as well.

I actually know of two apartments for rent in that price point located off of Briarcliff and North Decatur Rd. They have a great school system. It would be morningside elementary or fernbank. Both of which are top 3 in dekalb county. Let me know if you need any help.

of coarse you can but not in the same calaber of neighborhood or quality. But of coarse you can find them cheaper. I mean I know of a couple places in clayton county that are houses renting for $500 /month. But their school system is in shambles and it is not located near anything. But thanks for your expansive input on her question.

You might want to make a new post --'Would like FYI on apts in Vinings' or something like that. Paragraphs and punctuation make it easier to identify your requests. FWIW.

I can think of several previous threads where apts in Vinings were discussed. Go to: 'Advanced Search'/enter 'Vinings'/click on Atlanta/Search and you will find these threads listed.

If you job is anywhere but Gwinnett this should be a fairly good location. I suppose you would have a reverse commute from Vinings to Gwinnett but I suspect it would be over an hour on good days.
