Ok I've searched all over the GA DMV site, but I can't seem to find an answer to my question.

Back in April, we moved from Fulton to DeKalb county. We changed our address with the state immediately. From what I understand, my next ad valorem car tax bill will come to my new address. However, I'm not sure if I need to exchange our plates which say Fulton in order to obtain plates that say DeKalb.

Does anyone have any insight? thanks in advance.

Just the sticker needs to be changed. go to the tag office and take proof of residency. We used the settlement statement and water bill for ours.

I've been trying to get the county to give me a Dekalb sticker for five years. I've called them numerous times and they always say they'll mail me one, but so far I haven't received one.

Me too. Fortunately, the plate is on a car I don't drive very often. I'm sure if I got pulled over it'd be an issue.

I've done this twice. When I moved to Cobb, I physically went to the DMV with my mortgage bill proving I lived there and got my tag moved over, and got the new sticker. I think when I moved to Dekalb, however, I just happened to have to renew my license, so at that time I had my address changed and then my new sticker came in the mail like a week later.

I can assure you whatever you do, however many sheets documents you bring, it won't be enough for the good ladies at the DMV. With a frown hiding a smile, they'll send you home for something else.

^I went to the Cobb County office (off South Cobb Drive) to get my registration changed and they gave me the new sticker right there. It was so easy and the people were very friendly.
