Sam and Dave's BBQ on Whitlock Ave in Marietta. Nothing fancy, but it's some of the best BBQ I've ever tasted, and they've won oodles of awards and spectacular reviews.

Best Italian food in Atlanta:

Ippolito's, Roswell Road and Abernathy, Sandy Springs

And this is an authentic Sicilian speaking - it is as close to Italia as you are going to get!

Oh how the tastes between us are so genuinely different. Born and bred new yorker - closest we have to Gaetana for me here is Fratelli or Azio downtown. Fritti/sotto sotto as well. I would skip the chains - carraba, ippolito, olive garden.

Ipp's is not a chain - it is a local Atlanta restaurant that happens to have several metro locations. Not on the same level as Olive garden at all. And Fratelli di Napoli is good, but not authentic enough for me!

If we're talking Italian, have you tried Nino's and Alfredo's (both on Cheshire Bridge Rd.)? Very 'old school', and delicious.

Ahh...I somehow assumed it was a chain as there are some in seattle, where I go for work - probably all different.

Mannino - for authenticity, I suggest Di Paolo on Holcomb BRidge near 400.

Also - the closest I found to queens when it comes to pizza is UNcle Vito's on Holcomb Br in Norcross. Uncle Vito hails from brooklyn and tries his best to make a pie despite the crappy water.

One of my favorites in the area is The Flying Biscuit.

A runner-up is Dusty's BBQ near Emory. Simple yet "homey".
