Fake bodies??? What the heck is a "fake" body?

By the way, I sympathize with the original poster, because I'm contemplating moving to ATL from SoCal also, where my whole family resides and that, and the economy, are the two things that keep me second-guessing my decision to move.

why are you second guessing your move from socal to atl? Homes, Fuel and other things are less expensive than so cal. Food seems to cost about the same.

Where in socal do you live? Would you need to find a job in atl or can you transfer?

Listen stay there sometimes being around you family is not so good. I was in Lawrenceville, Ga moved back to NJ for my family and guess what I see none of them but I got lots of promises when I was in GA if I come back home. I can't wait to get a chance to live I just got out the hospital with stress and heart problems cause I am so miserable here. Me and my husband was so happy there but he did what I wanted and look it did not work you can have so much more there.

Hi OC California,

I live in Huntington Beach and work in Long Beach right now. I like the Alpharetta/Roswell area, but would get an apartment in Dunwoody to be by the MARTA/400/285 since I don't know yet where I'll be working. I currently work as a Judicial Assistant for LA County Superior Court and will probably try to transition to legal secretary or paralegal.

The difference in housing costs is definitely a plus in moving to ATL, and I love the area...the woods, the mountains, etc. Like you, just have worries about leaving my family (I'm single)--they all live in LA and OC area. But I figure if it doesn't work out, I can always move back.

Rep point for your attitude, Shania...after all, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Being single gives you more options. Yes, you can venture off and try something new and if you don't like it you can move back. If you are close to you family though I would really think about it. I think the only real reason to move is if you can't make ends meet or like myself have children and need to buy a house and stay home with them for a while. My children are my reason to "cut the cord" because I am a mom now. If I were single I'd buy a townhome n OC and stay near my family and the OCEAN!

Good Luck.

Being single gives me some options as far as moving back and forth if that's what I end up doing, however being single also limits my options in staying in SoCal. I've been living with my sister's family, initially to save up money for housing, and then housing prices increased so much during the housing boom that buying property became an impossibility. Townhomes in a decent area without too many safety concerns are still around $400,000 plus. Since I'm 47, I figure that even if I could work a loan for $300,000, I'd be paying that off for the rest of my life. I just can't afford a townhome anywhere near the beach and I'd like to think that I might be able to retire, or work parttime, someday. (Well, one can hope, anyway.) From what I've seen in Georgia, I could put down $100,000 on a townhome out here and then just pay the rest off in 10-15 years. It just seems to make a lot more sense financially. I don't want to be a renter for the rest of my life, and I can't live with my sister forever, either.

The real issue for me at this point is the economy...But that's a whole other subject.

I know exactly how you feel. MY husband and two kids just moved to Georgia about two weeks ago. The only family we have is cousins. My mom and I are very close, she is still in Florida. I miss here so much, it is so hard from seeing her everyday to not seeing her. Deep down I that my kids will have a better life here but I miss my mom dearly. I just try keep busy with the family and that kinds helps. Keep in touch.

Kids are our strength. They keep us busy, give us love, and reason to keep on going. We need to do what is right for them and us. A poster wrote something very useful to me. That I was a daughter at one point and now I am a wife and mother. We have to to cut the umbelical cord. They will come vist. Florida is so close you could drive down once a month for a while if you are really sad.
GA is very pretty and everyone tells me it is a great place to raise a family. We have to give it a chance, it takes a good year to feel solid about where you are living. Luckily, we can talk on the phone and use webcams. As long as we have our kids and husbands we will be ok, they are our"FAMILY".

What were your reasons for moving to GA?

Hang in there!

Thank you.
You have many trees in Cali, now its time to plant your seeds in the Georgia Clay. If you have sibling that are still in cali, definitely stay in Georgia, but if you are an only child, then you should go back if thats what makes you happy. Just my advice. Goodluck.
