DOT Commissioner loves to love at work
First she fooled around and married a member of the DOT Board earlier this year (after he was forced to resign), and now it's been revealed that she was sending explicit e-mails to another man with whom she worked at DOT a few years ago. Why can't people keep this stuff outside of work?

Seriously, while I do find the latest gossip over at GDOT to be quite hilarious, this is nothing but a dirty trick by a GDOT board member who is upset at her for finally holding them accountable. For too long, the GDOT board has authorized useless, costly projects to appease their bosses in their home districts. It's no wonder that after a few months on the job, Dr. Evans realized there were over 1,000 projects that no one knew of which were wasting in over $1 billion of taxpayers money. And I don't want to even get into the hypocrisy of the ethics guy in the video. Really, who's never sent or left a dirty message with a significant other? Let's hope that there are no more office romances so that the commissioner can keep up the good work.

I posted tongue in cheek, but the reality is that silly stuff like that distracts and takes away credibility. She may be a great administrator (I don't know if that's true or not) but she's acted like a love sick schoolgirl, and that just adds to the perception that government is full of hacks and incompetents.

Exactly. That's the illusion that the "leaker" was trying to create. She's doing a great job in addressing the issue of wasteful spending on behalf of the board that has been going on for decades; and the fact that she's addressing this issue makes her a threat to some of the good ol' boys on the GDOT Board.
If we had a competent and fair board, we wouldn't be sitting in horrible gridlock in Metro Atlanta. I'm glad that a young woman like herself is really ruffling the feathers of the good ol' boys on the GDOT Board.

The $1 billion dollar figure was actually the deficit the agency had when she took over. More recently, they "discovered" another $430 million in expenditures in a cabinet and she was considering layoffs in order to cover the cost of it. She's definately shaken things up in that agency for the better.
I've read that one of her main goals is to establish a structure within to DOT to handle transit so I'm a real fan of hers at this point.

Sounds like she's been doing more than ruffling feathers...she married one of the board members after having an affair on the job and was doing who knows what with other employees, on the job. Does that show good judgment?

I think to most people a relationship between two unmarried adults is called dating rather than an affair.

Whatever you call it, when it's two people in the management chain of command, it's poor judgment IMHO. Not the most important event to happen this century, but a distraction and poor judgment.

Give me a break - they got married. It's not like it was a fling. Geez.
