Moved here two years ago from Weston (like Mattie). HUGE numbers of Floridians here; very popular area. Haven't found my niche personally yet, but there are lots of positives here.

Sorry to hear that you all are flooded with spec homes right now. That is what I would be building, but like I said, one or two per yr. I'm small-time. But if you all are flooded with spec homes (as we are here in FL), I may hold off on building until the market gets better, or perhaps, look into another area or another state altogether. I have to go where there can be some work for me obviously.

I'm not sure that anywhere right now would be a good place to build homes. SPEC homes are selling for close to cost or even less sometimes. Plus with all the foreclosures, buyers can purchase a house for a lot less than it would cost to build it.

^^^ Yeah, that's what I am up against right now, unfortunately. I saw that in Canton, there were only like 5 new homes (brand new construction) between the $200k - $300k area. I thought maybe that would be my best bet, as it seems there arent a lot of homes for sale in that price range, maybe I'm wrong.

Hello, I currently live in Miami and have dislike it ever since I arrived as a teen from California. Me and my wife are in our late 20's and are planing to move with our two boy's to the ATL metro sub areas. Miami is a dirty city, there's no good area to raise kids and house prices are way to high. The people are nasty, it's like a third world country, and I'm hispanic myself! I see that a lot of people from South Florida have moved to GA, I'm wondering what is the average age for families moving to GA form FL?

I see we have football fans on here so I might as well.....GO NINERS !!! I know we suck, but its ok

The average age for families in Canton is 31, Atlanta is 32, Alpharetta is 33. It really depends on where you move. But coming from S. Fla myself and having avoided going to Miami whenever possible, anywhere in GA is better than there.

Hey Born in FL, I have family in stone mountain and conyers, have you looked into those areas. Yeah I like Jacksonville, but think it's time for me to move on. I think I will have a better city experience (more things to do, etc) in Atlanta and I may enjoy my job better and have a better chance for advancement in my career in atl. I just think I'll enjoy it more in atl but this decision is still probably 1-2 years away as I'll have to transfer with the same job I have in jax to atl. I'll make a post in this forum probably once I find out where the job that I have in atl is, but it's a option for me. Thanks

I moved here five years ago from Pembroke Pines (but I'm originally a Miami native). I'm on the western side of the metro--there's a slower pace out here and it's nice. I enjoy it.
