There are great, good, average and low-performing schools within every school system, so you would probably need to have your target area in mind...then people can help you with which schools are the best in that particular school system. If you go by test scores to determine which schools are best (I don't), then here ya go:

In Atlanta, the Grady High/Inman Middle/Morningside Elementary cluster is considered one of if not the best, along with Sarah Smith Elementary and a couple of others in Buckhead that feed into North Atlanta High.

In Cobb County, Walton, Lassiter, and Pope High Schools are always mentioned as the best. All three have average SAT scores of over 1100.

In Fulton County, the five highest scoring/highest rated high schools are Alpharetta, Centennial, Northview, Chattahoochee, and Milton - all in North Fulton County.

In Dekalb County, Chamblee, Lakeside, Dunwoody, and Druid Hills high schools have the highest SAT scores and graduation rates.

In Gwinnett County, there is a long list of high schools with average SAT scores over 1000. Brookwood, North Gwinnett, and Parkview look to have the highest graduation rates.

You could try historic East Point or historic College Park. Fayette county has several schools that consistently achieve high test scores.

Almost any school in East Cobb/Marietta is great. The Walton or Pope HS district I would most recommend.

[color=black][FONT=Verdana]Yes. I agree...Prices will vary greatly in terms of how much house you can get for the money, depending on what school district you are in. It varies from district to district, within a county. It is better to check out the schools on a individual biases.Moderator cut: Please no advertisement ! Right now the number one school is Vanderlyn Elementary according o the State data. But it is pricy; a 70's ranch will be 300-500k in that district. In Douglasville a 70's ranch is 80k-110k, we have great schools as well and 500k will get you a 6,000 sq ft mini mansion in a good school district. It depends on your price range. Hope this helps.
