Question Kennesaw Info needed - trash, doctors, phones, etc

Hi! My family and I just moved to Kennesaw (30152) and we are in need of suggestions/referrals for certain services.

First, we need a trash service. We would love something that includes recycling, but are also open to taking recycleables to a center if there is one fairly close. Any info on who to use or who to stay away from would be wonderful.

Second, I am looking for a family practicioner, pediatrician, dentist, eye doctor, etc. for both babies/young children through adulthood. I would love to have one in each specialty that would serve all ages. But, I am more interested in finding someone who meets our needs even if I have to visit multiple offices to get excellent care.

Third, we are looking for a good cellphone. We currently have Alltel, but have found that the reception we get is not so great both at our house and at work. I'd love to know from others who has service that works well in this area.

Fourth, we would like to get a landline telephone and would like suggestions on what is available and who is good.

Thanks everyone for helping out. I am loving the few days that I have spent here. Everyone seems very kind and considerate and I am loving the area.

Here's the city of Kennesaw site: Welcome to the City of Kennesaw Official Website!

(another site: City of Kennesaw, Georgia: Information Resources for Kennesaw Residents and Visitors. )

Verizon offers the best coverage for cell phones in the Atlanta area.

AT&T is pretty much it as far as large land line companies unless you use a Web based service like Vonage or something I may not be familiar with.

Recycling isn't as popular here as in other areas of the U.S. The local news regularly used to follow the recycling trucks only to find that they were dumping stuff in landfills that they collected, so many communities stopped their curbside recycling programs as a result. Maybe others can direct you to centers that will take your stuff.

Lived in 30152 for sometime...this is what I used:

1- Waste Management - offers recycling

2- Pediatrician: Dr Sisk (in the village green kroger shopping center) he was mine and my son's-no I am not 16...27. He was just starting out in 1980-81 GREAT DR.

3- VERIZON. hands down, Verizon. I have had T-Mobile (worked for them a long time ago) just dumped them finally. Hardly works in pockets of stilesboro rd

4- Can't help you there, I swear by my unlimited minutes w/Verizon

I like Trash Busters. They come twice a week and you can put out anything. It's worth the few extra bucks a month, especially with two kids in diapers.

Pediatrician, Dr. Brianna Brugner, great doctor, both of our kids go there.

We have Verizon but have spotty serivce in our house. But all carriers have spotty service in our house.

If you get DSL I think you need to go with AT&T for landline.

For cell, AT&T (formerly Cingular) has very good 3G coverage in GA and in Cobb in particular, and uses GSM technology, which is the worldwide standard. They also have a great network in most parts of the country. I have not used VZW here in Atlanta (used them in the northeast), but I can tell you that AT&T's coverage is excellent in Atlanta, as this is their corporate HQ. You can also bundle with Internet and landline phone to get better discounts.

You have limited choice for landline. AT&T is the traditional landline telco, and you can also look at Comcast which uses VoIP technology, but on a dedicated network not subject to traditional VoIP problems. After that, you have traditional VoIP providers like Vonage that use the Internet and can be subject to latency and other issues inherent in unmanaged networks, but they are usually cheaper and "good enough" although E911 can be a problem if you don't follow directions.

Not sure where you're from, but it's not uncommon in the South to walk next door or across the street and talk to your neighbors. They could probably help out alot more.

Well, where I'm from, you don't walk anywhere. You are liable to get shot if you walk on the wrong street. But, I did talk to a neighbor that we have met and got some suggestions. Just looking for a broader view. Not sure how to take your post...seems awful rude...the first rudeness I have encountered since being in the south. Makes me sad that the south is littered with rude people too!
