I have friends there and they said it was too rural. They are getting us to possibly take a look up that way in a few yrs. It is beautiful up there, reminds me of NC a bit.

What!? Are we talking about the same Cumming?
BornInFL - Parts of the County are still rural, especially the far Northern reaches of it. The Southern third of the County is basically new sprawl spilling over from North Fulton.

Thanks johnatl, we will check it out. we have friends there and they like the roswell area, said cumming, canton was too rural. but living in orlando, i can get used to more rural. as many of you are probably from florida and know what i mean. thx.
ps - i used to live in asheville and really overlooked how nice and friendly ppl were, low in crime (compared to orlando), and i miss seeing rolling hills and mtns rather than concrete and strip malls here in orlando, and took it for granted.

LOL! I totally understand. I moved here from Orlando 22 years ago. Back then it was still considered pretty nice, but I never missed it.
Good luck!

LOL! Man, the guy I am responding to is actually from Orlando. (How about that Compelled to Reply?) That is interesting! Well, if you didnt like it in Orlando yrs ago, you are in for a real treat now! But your right, back then it was nice, I heard it was a lot nicer in Orlando even 10 yrs ago. This aint the same Orlando though. I have relatives here who have been here for yrs (originally from Miami) and they say they feel like they are back in Miami again! Now that's scary!

# Hispanic (16.7%)
I don't really care either way, but there might be too many Hispanics for someone looking to avoid them. Also, a lot of the Hispanics in Cumming are illegal. I am talking about chiefly the incorporated part, not the unincorporated areas that are also sometimes considered Cumming.

The illegals are usually nicer and are hard workers. I work around many of them, and most of them are great guys.

I pretty much agree. I live near the Buford Hwy corridor, and I actually love all the great food we have because of it.

When I first saw this I was so shocked! When I was able to read the person's message I felt a little better. I am Black. We are almost always THE minority. I wanted to be rude and say "welcome to our world," but it is definitely a wierd feeling being the "only chip in the cookie." After reading the NOLA person's post I can understand thier problem. Since I have only lived here a year I can't offer that many good suggestions. I just say take a drive and take a look. I just moved from Stone Mountain to Sandy Springs (literally just got all of my stuff today) and am pleased with the DIVERSITY that I see. In "other people's" minds that means your typical White majority with others thrown in. I just had to put in my 2 cents on this post. I didn't like the negativity that I saw from both sides.
