And they have a waiting list, so this work order may not happen soon. They said I will receive a refund 3-4 weeks after this disconnect occurs.
Can anyone confirm this is how Comcast handles their cancellations? I've never heard of a company that continues to charge you after you've already cancelled (and I did not have any contract). I'm thinking it will be a long time before I see this money. I don't want to cancel the credit card auto-payment because I'm worried they will somehow screw up my credit score for non-payment.

Even though it is less of a hassle, I'd never do auto-charge with my credit card in fear of something like this happening.
Having said that, I recently cancelled Comcast bundles service and switched to AT&T bundles with DishNet. I called CC on the phone and they confirmed my cancellation and said I'd receive a refund within 6 weeks. Then a few days later, I received another bill for $140. I called them again and they were like oops..you'd need to return your equipment but they said I wouldn't have to pay the bill. So I dropped off the equipment in person and that closed the deal. Just my 0.02.
