AS is chock full of people who work in the music industry, professional athletes, and young professionals, and the last time I checked the rents in AS were still well above $1000 for most units in and around AS

Yes I am sure.
Also, stop pulling the race card and using it as an excuse for eveything. Its pathetic. Your the only one who has brought race into this.

Someone else may have brought race into the discussion, but you are bringing a bunch of false statistics and facts into it. Your "information" on TADs is untrue and for some reason you are against development in Atlanta - or at least that's the way it appears.

Not against TADs or development - I am against TADs being used to push a political agenda aimed to keep power. Atlanta will never be like Manhattan, and TADs being used for affordable housing annoy me because it is a waste of money. There are enough affordable housing options in these neighborhoods. Are you telling me that a teacher could no afford to live a mile outside of Atlantic Station? Thats a joke! Or that a cop cant afford to live a mile away from Centennial Park?

I think there are two sides to the TAD argument, and I think both are legitimate. I find myself on both sides of the argument, but to address the idea of TADS legitimacy based on the affordability aspect makes you seem like a little Joe Plummerish. You know against something that’s in your best interest.
Those against the TAD are not for any subsidies because they believe in a free market capitalism and laissez fair economics. Some areas are ripe for development without TADS, i.e. Centennial Park
Those for TADS believe that without subsidies areas will not reach their full potential because the start up cost would be so great the private sector will not being willing to invest no matter the return. I.e. Atlantic Station, Westside TAD.
Both arguments above are legitimate concerns, but your argument is based on political talking points and baseless allegation, probably due to lack of research. The housing that is made affordable is usually for sale units and are not rental units. The housing made available is not enough to keep any politician elected. These TADs displace more residents of lower class than they attract. Please go to www.atlantada.com and do some research on the qualifications for these for sale units.

Yeah OK, who said I bought race into this? I was, however, insinuating on your own presumptions that Atlantic Station has a lot of blacks, so hence “they must be on section 8, because they couldn’t afford that”. You can sit on the fence and try to play the gray area as long as you want to, but I can see thru you like Windex. Bottom line rents in Atlantic Station still hover above the $1000 a month mark, and I highly doubt that it’s that many section 8 recipients residing in those buildings. They may look like section 8 recipients to you when you go VISIT Atlantic Station, but I would be willing to bet they have more money than you. A friend of mine lives in the Park District complex and she herself is a recent law school grad, her next door neighbor is the assistant A&R for Bad Boy Records, and there are a number of young professionals, entertainers and also athletes that don’t even play for the local teams but just have “spots” down there for when they come into the city, all of which I highly doubt are section 8 recipients.

Yes, I'm telling you that a teacher cannot afford to live in Downtown or Midtown. Period. What makes you think we can?
