We lived on Roswell Rd near Abernathy for 5 years and moved just south of the Abernathy Arts Center(Johnson Ferry @ Abernathy) for 8 years. Heading toward Paces Ferry from Grogan's Bluff could add over 1/2 hour to your drive time depending on Roswell Rd and 400 accidents. Cutting through on Riverside is not a piece of cake(nice twisties if you have a road-worthy vehicle) and could get old if you travel during school bus hours. Be aware that the Johnson Ferry/Abernathy area 'should' be a mess if they ever get around to widening the route from the river south and east toward Roswell Rd. It's been over 5 years since they started buying up houses...no telling how long the actual road building will take! My vote would be closer in around Riverside...there were some bargains on either side of Brandon Mill when we left in June...just don't over improve the house if it does need a lot of work. Good luck...we sure miss the Sandy Springs Tennis Center and Roasters!

This link should also be helpful. It reveals the elementary zone boundaries for the 2009-2010 school year...since the new school on Ison Road will open at this time:

Fulton County Schools - Operational Planning - Redistricting

*scroll down to the bottom where it says "2009-2010 Sandy Springs elementary school attendance boundaries..."

Enjoy!
