Default Homes Near Atlanta Motor Speedway

My husband just got a job as an air traffic controller and will be working next to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. I have been looking around at homes on the internet and don't know where we should move. We do not have kids now, but will start a family soon after arriving, so schools are important. I also want somewhere that is safe and close to shopping (grocery store, drug store, maybe a mall of some sort).

Any suggestions will help. I have looked at Fayette County schools (But they seem too expensive for us right now)and Henry County schools (doesn't seem safe according to the city-data). He just doesn't want to be too far from work (no more than 30 minutes)

Thanks!!

Have you thought about taking a look at listings for foreclosed homes in Fayette County ?
I live in Fayette county and although I'm not buying , I do look at listings for these homes every couple of weeks just to see what is out there. I am seeing more forclosed homes listed than ever - at all price levels . I am mainly looking in Peachtree City but I think it is a good example of what you can find all over the county.

Peachtree City is a great place to raise small children. Lots of parks everywhere and great recreational facilites. The golf cart paths are awsome for going for getting out be it walks, golf cart rides, whatever with small children.

I have looked at real estate listings, and I think some are foreclosures. It will be worth the extra money to have a place that is good to raise a family.

Thanks!
