I've been reading a bunch of posts on this forum and you're all very helpful. My wife and I are relocating to Atlanta in May and are trying to decide where to live. We're in our late 20's with no kids yet but will probably be having some in the next year or so.

My wife will work in the north/west suburbs and I will travel so we can't be too far from the airport (30-40 minutes). We're thinking of living in either Smyrna, Roswell, or E Cobb (marietta near the river).

Any thoughts on these areas? It seems like you get an older home in E. Cobb for your money. We have about $350K to spend on our home and are really confused about where we should be looking. We're coming to town in a few weeks to check the place out but wanted to see if we could get some help before we plan our trip.

Any help or info. would be appreciated!!!!!

Smyrna would be your best bet for several reasons.

1) cheaper than the other two
2) up and coming
3) closer to NW suburbs b/c it's on the corner of I-75/285, North on I-75 in the morning is a breeze b/c it's against traffic.
4) you can take the back way to the airport which is 285 E/S to Langford Parkway. Hardly any traffic that way in the morning, only at the I-20 ramps. I use to live in Smyrna and work by the airport, easy drive.
5) I would say more of a younger crowds lives in this area

Thanks for the info on Smyrna. We're definitely going to check it out. It's nice to know that it's reasonable to commute to the airport. Also, my wife will most likely have to commute up 75 so it's great to know that the reverse commute isn't bad in the AM.

We don't have an agent yet but will be reaching out to one soon. Since we're new to the area, we're planning on driving around on our own at first to get a feel for the general area we want to look before looking at properties with a realtor.
