I am a Liberal Fulton County resident. I think Peachtree city is nice, and I would live there if my husband and I had jobs south of the city.

Folks, just ignore thedudewithaplan. He has threads all OVER the forum trashing Peachtree City.
It's always the same: Rich republicans, too many BMW's, bad schools, rude people. He repeats this same crap in vitually every thread. He obviously had some sort of tramautic event happen there - I suspect his parents were transferred here, and he didn't want any part of it.

I love the area where I live: Mableton. Less than five miles from I-285, beautiful trees and hills, acceptable schools, a fair number of decent eating and entertainment venues within a short drive, a well-organized county (Cobb) to provide the essential services (fire/police/water), and *no* city property taxes.

Think I've read pretty much the exact thing in one of his threads. No matter where one goes, one will find adolescent angst and wherever that child is, it will be the worst place in the world.
I grew up in a small town south of Peachtree City and was fascinated with a planned town. A perfect day trip for me would be my mom taking me to Peachtree City, get a map of the area and drive through the new developments. To me as a teen, it was perfection and would have given anything to live there. Shows you what kind of map/statistics nerd I was....and still am.
Compare that to a guy that has the opportunity to grow up in such a prosperous place, but this type of personality will always feel the victim, there will always be those more wealthy, more popular, etc that will be the problem.
I should have more mercy, something traumatic probably did happen. But I was a nerd and had my share of humiliation as a teen, but I am not going to blame my hometown as the cause. This would have happened most anywhere for me and for this poster.

Thanks, Saintmarks. Could not have said it better myself.
I was a nerd kid too, and enjoyed the same type of thing as you mention. We moved every 18 months to four years when I was growing up. At the time I kind of resented it, but now I am so glad we did. I am confortable with almost any type of people, and have since learned to love travel. Can't get enough, actually!

I have friends who live there and LOVE it. Nice, quiet, friendlly area with growing number of shops and restaurants. The golf cart paths are open to everyone. It's very pretty. thedudewitha plan must be too young to enjoy the ambience.

I think they are doing pretty well now since they broke with Fulton County in 2005 or 2006.
If you scroll down 8/9 inches you will find a description of the districts and neighborhoods. There are some incredible older homes/estates near the river.

Actually I am not a young kid, I am 28. And yes I have had several bad experiences growing up there. When we put up signs for the election, our signs were torn up, our mailbox was damaged and several other parts of our property were damaged. When I worked at the grocery store there, I had several people say very insulting things to me, including a woman who said that I would never amount to anything because I was working for minimum wage and that it was her right to say what she wanted about me (without any due cause). When I was in school, I was constantly picked on because I did not live in a 500,000 dollar + home. Several other examples as well. After a several years of that, I grew kind of bitter from it.
