Just ignore me. I'm slow. The old version of the C compiler I'm using was pummeling my brain last week.

My sis-in-law lives in a $150K house in Peachtree City and her daughter goes to Braelinn Elementary and has no problems with getting picked on. They love it there. I love all the golf carts going by every time we go to visit. We're planning to move there ourselves in a year or so. It's a nice community.
I'd vote for Lilburn or Snellville - they're going downhill IMO.

Wow, is that how it is in GA? I mean GA is a red state. I am looking to move out of the NE to get away from this kind of polarization where conservatives are villified. Maybe GA is not the place for me?

No that's not how it is. I moved here from New England, partly for the same reason you state. There are some on this forum who are bitter or hate the suburbs, and you may have read some of those opinions. Most people in the Atlanta area are pretty middle of the road politically with a slightly more conservative bent in the suburbs, and a more liberal bent closer in to the city. The state overall is center/right.

Well, I guess these terms are subjective. But for a state that has amendments banning gay marriage, not selling alcohol in stores on Sundays, and having a Republican monopoly in the legislature and governorship makes this assertion tough to swallow. Couple that with the fact that gun owners can carry guns on trains, in parks, or walk into a local McDonalds with them and that the current governor was propelled to victory because the Confederate flag was removed from the state flag, and I don't think the term "center" really applies here. As far as what I consider "moderate." I don't really see elements of anything liberal in this state that would balance out these right/far right-elements of government and policy. But perhaps others could clarify.

Compared to the northeast or parts of California like SF, Georgia is pretty conservative, but that's because those places are waaaay out left in many cases. While there may be some individuals or specific areas that are more right leaning than most, on average Georgia is center/right.
Case in point for the season, my old town in MA prohibited a Christmas tree from my daughter's school, first calling it a "winter holiday tree" and then banning it completely. No equal representation for menorahs and other holiday symbols...nope...just banned it. Same for the holdiay band recital. No more holiday tunes....nope...too "un-diversity-ish".
Here, things in the metro Atlanta and other metro areas are much more liberal than they used to be 15 to 20 years ago. Just look at the last election as an indication. Most of the immediate urban areas in the state and surrounding communities were blue.

Not the entire metro area is red, there are places in dekalb, douglas, ect... that are pretty liberal. Many of the farther out suburbs are fairly conservative though (Peachtree City being one of those)

What about Suwanee? Not only is it constructing one of the nicest new town centers in the metro area (with residences at the town center), but it's only 7 miles from the Mall of Georgia, and within proximity to all that the northern Atlanta suburbs has to offer. It's also close to the lake and has 9 miles of pedestrian trails, for people who might be active outdoors types. While there might not be much to do in Suwanee itself, who really in metro Atlanta only does things within 5 miles of where they live? So what about Suwanee? I'm asking the question because for all the time I lived in Atlanta, I have never stepped foot in Suwanee. But I have seen their town center on an online map site.
Also, Peachtree city has the best pedestrian trails in all the Atlanta area, besting even anything the urban Atlanta area has to offer. I've been there to see for myself.
