I don't know what you definition of affordable is. Under $20 for an entrée? But here goes on some restaurants in the downtown/midtown area:

Concentrics Restaurants
Nino's Atlanta - Atlanta's Oldest Italian Restaurant - Italian Food, Italian Wine, Italian Desserts
Shaun's Social Club & Restaurant - 404.577.4358 1029 Edgewood Avenue NE Atlanta, GA 30307
The Peasant Restaurants
Ecco Restaurant - Atlanta GA
South City Kitchen Restaurant - Contemporary Southern Food - Atlanta GA - Midtown & Vinings

My vote is for One Midtown Kitchen, Shaun's or the Peasant. All have great food, ambiance and a great looking restaurant/location.

Good luck!
