It just bothers me that when someone comes on and disproves of something, you strike back with statistics telling them how they are wrong. Statistics are lies, numbers are lies. Not everyone will agree that the ATL airport is the best in the world.. it moves more people than all others, but everyone has diff. criteria.

You read a negative post and look for slight inadequacies in the posts instead of looking at the issues. If I say that hardly anybody in midtown walks down boulevard, you "correct" my observation with the fact that there's also peachtree, piedmont, etc... as if you know more about Atlanta than I because I left those streets out.

How trooling it is in my opinion to not agree with someone and have to rely on names because replies/points can't speak for themselves... Not directed at anyone in particular just a thought.
Another one of your now-famous irritating posts. Opinions can be wrong when based on incorrect realities, and yours are nowhere near any reality. SLIGHT inadequacies in your posts? Try full-on falsehoods!

Who was talking about "walking down Boulevard"? I know I was talking about driving and I'm pretty sure you were too, but now you've changed to walking. It's not a street that I would care to walk down, but I have no fear of driving it. And honey, I'm very sure from reading your statements that I DO know much more about the realities of Atlanta than you EVER will - unless you take some lessons from some of the members of this forum or actual people who are knowledgeable about the city.

I haven't read ONE statement in any thread asserting that ATL is the best airport...but the fact is that ATL is the BUSIEST airport in the world. You can have the opinion that the fact is a lie - but it's still a fact and everyone knows it. You can only disprove a fact with support, and your silly opinion isn't enough.

You're wrong again...numbers and facts DO NOT LIE. Ignorant people can look at the numbers or factual information and still not see reality, but numbers either come from actual counts or estimations by industry professionals and experts (I hope you don't say you know more than they do), facts come from the what is actually known to exist...and people form opinions based on these realities. If you form an opinion based on anything other than facts and/or your own REAL experiences, your opinions are just not going to be valid - and many of yours just aren't valid. It's time to face that fact.

I think the consensus from earlier posts is that nobody really cares about your gender.

Yep I know your a dude, but some of the other posters didn't. Many were calling and referring to you as a female, yet you never spoke up and said you weren't. I don't see how you are not having "fun" in Midtown. Your post are very entertaining, and you have ruffled a few feathers. Thank you

Hey, I think I've been fairly decent to this Negative Nancy. I haven't called him/her names or fallen for his/her bait. I might have made him/her feel a little inferior at times...but it's not a difficult task...my feathers aren't ruffled at all, but his/hers seem to be getting that way.

I didn't change anything you just can't read beyond your "irritation"

Oh yeah, when you mentioned the "urban environment" to the other poster a while ago you forgot to leave this major thoroughfare out didn't you?

Or by "urban environment" do you consider that car-centric?

LOL you're killing me.. I they are paying you well!

Default Change is inevitable, but is it tolerable?

I used to refer to Atlanta as pre-Olympics and post-Olympics. I stopped that. There is so much more that goes into the mix of what has happened to the "monster around the Perimeter". I remember grassy meadows in Alpharetta in the early 1970's, and fishing off Holcomb Bridge Road. When I visit these days I'm scared to be a pedestrian in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Buckhead, Marietta, etc. outside of structured neighborhoods - so many vehicles, everyone is in a hurry. I remember the relatively easy drive, price, and parking out at Alex Cooley's and the Fox for a show. That's history. Atlanta still has it's charms, but it's not for me. Relatives in Atlanta gifted me a subscription to "Atlanta" magazine. I looked at the first issue with all the ads, inserts, poofy articles and references to exclusivity - and I put it in the garage, just as I put every issue in the garage without reading (but I don't tell them so I won't hurt their feelings), and then I bundle them up and take them to the VA when I get my checkup for others to read. Two years ago I had a mandatory business trip to the Buckhead area. Ugh! (it was second in disappointment only to another business trip to Miami area where I also once lived - but that's another story). Atlanta/and its burbs have really decent restaurants and shopping, but I would never consider living in Atlanta again. In many American suburbs, population has exploded along with the job opportunities, and at some point the balance tips from workable to unworkable, at least in my thinking (I like cleaner air/less vehicular traffic for healthier breathing). Even getting away to North Georgia and Tybee Island once in awhile would not make living there tolerable. Atlanta has "tipped" the wrong direction for me, but for those coming up without the memory of "what was", how bad can it be?

If that's the case, then that is ignorance. Southern Culture is defined, in my opinion, by civility and the heritage we had. To only view the negative aspects of Southern culture is ignorant, and only further reinforces the opinions outside the South. Atlanta does a good job of reinforcing the negative aspects of southern culture by it's claim of being the capitol of the south, and most people who live in the south agree with me.

But this is off-topic, has nothing to do with how much Atlanta sucks and/or why it does
Um...what part of Southern 'heritage and culture' isn't linked to slavery? It all was. It was the entire economy and pervaded every aspect of life. Without Northern Reconstruction efforts and investment in cities like Atlanta, Birmingham, etc this region would be far less enjoyable than it is now. Hell, my folks up in Gatlinburg from a few generations ago didn't have electricity until the TVA was commissioned.

I'm from Georgia and I'm proud to be southern, but I'm not ignorant of history.
