Default Mayor Franklin passed over by Obama for key DC position...

Well, give the guy a point. It looks like he's not in the habit of putting people in positions based on personal friendships or any other reason other than ability. Bravo to him.

Just goes to show you that he's actually thinking about who he puts in these positions- kudos.

You know...not everyone is anti-Shirley Franklin. A lot of us still like her, no matter how many Negative Nancies on this site continue to bash her.

And you're fully entitled to do so- no one said you weren't- so what's the problem?

The celebratory bashing, that's the problem. Think about it.

He was just elected president of the most powerful nation on Earth. Do you really belive he WOULDN'T be thinking about who he puts in those postions? Why wouldn't he?

Because in many other elections, both state and federal, people were put in positions because of who they knew or how much they donated, rather than based on being the right person for the job. Remember the moron Bush had put in charge of FEMA???

From what I've seen so far, he seems to be selecting people who are really big-time standouts in their respective fields. I don't think Franklin would've made the cut, at least from what I've observed so far. I don't see that she has any particular credentials in housing, but perhaps I missed something.

Ok, here is how I feel. She has too much baggage. I was a Shirley supporter until the budget crisis was exposed. I supported her up until she refuse fire to her friend and CFO of Atlanta, Janice Davis. She didn't hold her accountable while she laid off hundreds of city employees. Janice resigns a couple of months later and the mayor's office said she didn't ask her to resign. WTF? I'm sure she wasn't the most qualified. Good Riddance 2010 Shirley Franklin! ACCOUNTABILITY 2010!

Why do some many people dislike the Mayor Shirley Franklin? I haven't been here too long so just wondering.
