Wow...
This is not surprising. I'm sure other homebuilders will follow.
I used to think, driving around, years ago, when all of these subdivisions were being built up, "You know, it is too easy to get a house these days. Houses seem just too abundant. They're throwing them up left and right."
It's become a slap in the face.

Good- it'll leave a smaller crop of builders when the economy turns back around. The reduced competition will reduce the need to cut profits to the bone- especially when you're trying to compete with a low-budget builder like KB, where everything is an "extra". I was never impressed with KB's homes from a style or quality perspective- the whole "Martha Stewart" thing that they tried was just putting lipstick on a pig.

Developers who build single family detached usually aren't in the city of Atlanta, they are OTP... The majority of multifamily developers are in the actual city of Atlanta.
I won't miss the previous.

They are most definitely ITP and they are tiny outfits that have been around doing quality construction through multiple generations oftentimes. Northbrooke, who built my home ITP did a fantastic job and I won't miss the Lennars, KBs, Beazers, but the smaller mom and pops do great worth. From your previous posts I know your position, but not everything can be multiunit condo/urban development. some people, like myself, just want houses.

I was never impressed with their work. Another one biting the dust. I prefer custom built houses, anyways. Not into cookie cutter houses. Any concrete residential builders out there? I cant complain. I met one in Newnan a few months ago, and like his work. Waiting on things to improve.

I wish it had read; "KB Homes forced out of Atlanta... because of bad building practices"
Oh well, some people can never see past the "Max Factor" effect (as Bob K mentioned).
