a quite sterile downtown.

I was only there for work, though. Had to walk miles to find any sign of life.

LOL, Texans do get a bit, shall we say sensitive when someone says they think ATL is prettier than D/FW or Houston.

Yeah, well I'm a Texan who thinks Atlanta is prettier than both Dallas and Houston, but the state of Georgia strongly resembles the Northeast Texas country (check my heading) in several ways.

We only see them when we leave the garage, or on the (very) few occasions when one manages to get into the house.

Of course, we have a wooded lot, so there are lots of places for them to live.

Yeah, East Texas is the most similar to the Southeast with climate and topography. I used to live in California and every summer, me and my family would drive from San Diego to Jackson, MS to visit family. After passing through the endless desert and prairie, somewhere east of Dallas, the tall pine trees of East TX would start popping up. My parents eyes would light up whenever this happened, because they knew they were almost home.

And while Dallas and Houston are decent places, to me, they are not in an attractive natural setting compared to Atlanta. Houston comes close, but it's not the same.

Yeah, there ain't much to call a tree up in Dallas. In Houston there are very thick pine forests on the far north side of the city limits, and it's really nice up there, but the land is still flat and there aren't any nice hardwoods or anything like that.
