Something Good Going On in Metro Area: Rockdale County
Below is some good news/happenings out of Rockdale County. What they are doing might be a blueprint for many parts of Metro Atlanta. I was happy to learn about it.
ROCKDALE COUNTY: A new year rings in new era of leadership | ajc.com
After reading the article, feel free to share your opinions and ponder the following questions...
1. Do you think Rockdale County will have the same issues as Clayton County?
2. Do you think Rockdale County's white population will stabilize...and the county will continue as "successfully multi-racial?"
*These are some quick, general questions...don't hesitate to ask your own.

If you read Rockdale Citizen, the whites are leaving for Walton, Morgan and Newton. They call Rockdale, Dekalb East. They say, it isn't like the past.
I don't see the crime and blight that alot of them complain of.
Its ok out here. Just too far from the city for me.
I doubt it will become like Clayton. It's not enough apartments and townhouses out here. Mostly single family homes and even then, no transit. The bus stops at Stonecrest mall, so if you don't have a car, you are SOL.
I don't think whites will stay here. They are leaving as usual when the scale tips too much towards blacks and hispanics...what can you do???

And that's unfortunate (see highlighted above). People can only "fly" so far east before they are in Taliaferro County or even Metro Augusta (lol!).
Newton County is already fairly diverse...with an emerging/establishing black middle class. We'll see what happens to the eastern suburbs. Less white flight would be nice...

From what I've read in the Saturday comment section of the Rockdale Citizen, they wouldn't if they have to escape way out in the boonies to get back to the "old rockdale."
I guess change is scary.
I don't see the big deal. The sheriff department is all over this county. LOL. I never fail to see atleast one a day. If something happens, the whole force comes out. The judges throw the book at everyone out here.
Yea, Newton is pretty diverse but way too far out, imho.
