Gee how many murders has Roswell had it the past five years? And how many has Atlanta had in the same period? Probably around 400 or so to maybe 1? No need to wonder why people flee to the burbs.

From January 2003 - September 2008 there were 12 murders in Roswell ( http://roswellgov.com/files/docs/pdf...eStats2008.pdf). There have been 18 in my neighborhood of Downtown Atlanta, which is actually quite remarkable considering that 200,000 people come Downtown every workday - twice the entire population of Roswell.

I don't know the stats or whether this is perception rather than reality, but the AJC did an article today about "intown residents" being fearful of what they perceive as a "crime wave." I can't say that I've met anyone in my suburban area who is fearful of a "crime wave."

I said "Downtown" not "Intown." "Intown" is basically ITP. Downtown is the southern business / hotel / government district that many people - including "Intowners" - love to characterize is being "scary" when in fact it's pretty safe given the high volume of targets. It is downtown alone that hosts 200,000+ people every work day.

Do you work for at&t on Chester? I sold one of the townhomes at South Park just across from the at&t work center.

Yep. That is where I work. I actually work at cellular sites but I report there. BTW, I really think it is nice when people pay $300K to have a view of our work lot! I guess to each his own but you can get a nice house here in Cobb for a lot less!
I am sorry to hear the place is closed. I was planning on taking a pic of the neon sign and never got around to it. I hope they don't scrap it. I really liked seeing it at night.

If the City of Atlanta wasn't so poorly run, it wouldn't be such an easy target.
While I don't agree that OTP is "better" than ITP in general, in the four years I've lived down here I've found several reasons to be glad that I live where I do (just OTP in a relatively sane county) instead of in Atlanta proper.
If you don't like that attitude on the part of OTPers (even newbies like myself), maybe fixing the core issues ITP would be a good start at eliminating it... Neither Atlanta nor Fulton County are paragons of good government.

Um...Roswell is nowhere near the size of Atlanta, so there would obviously be less criminal activity in Roswell - just due to the size.
People don't "flee" to the suburbs. If that's what you did, then fine...but don't act like your actions are the norm. It's retarded to even make a statement like that - especially when the city is growing.
I read about crimes and other negativity, but I don't react to it irrationally. It's sad that these things happen, but they do...and most of us simply go on living our lives without freaking out.
