All I can say is... Good luck with that.

Sandy Springs and Dunwoody are different. They are actual suburbs, aside from Perimeter Center in the very south part of the area. Vinings is actually in-town.

How is Vinings in town? It's only inside the perimeter, and part of the perimeter is in Cobb, the boundary is the river. Otherwise, why wouldn't they annex the brand new Cobb Energy Arts Center or the big building's, businesses, Cumberland area around it and inside 285?

Well I meant it's more intown than Sandy Springs/Dunwoody. Obviously it's not already a part of the City of Atlanta, or we wouldn't be talking about annexing it.

I have to say that before anything gets annexed, the City of Atlanta and Fulton County for that matter-needs to do a better job of managing what they have before they go anywhere else.
At least hire a PR firm to make it seem like they are managing themselves well.

Houston hasn't annexed land since 1995, and is actually giving up land to other communities so they can form their own cities (most notably, The Woodlands). And besides Kingwood and Clear Lake, Houston just annexes commercial property for two reasons: to not have to provide services to the residential areas and to not let in a lot of Republican/conservative base into the city.

Well exactly. Why on earth would residents of an unincorporated area of a well run county want to join a city that is under severe fiscal strain and suffers from no leadership and poor management? Even in better economic and fiscal times what is the upside for Vinings?
I don't understand why some folks on this forum have this constant mantra of wanting to extend the City of Atlanta, as if that will make it "more of a city" or put it in the same category with LA or NY.
Maybe Atlanta should be annexed by Cobb County?

With all of this talk from Atlanta about invading our space, it sounds should start thinking about building a wall...

I thought Atlanta had very strict annexing laws.

Vinings would incorporate or get annexed by Smyrna WAAAYYY before they let themselves be annexed by Atlanta.
Or Chattahoochee Plantation would get reestablished. Anybody remember Chatthoochee Plantation? A small incorporated town around where the Atlanta Country Club is with a one foot wide city limit running down the Chattahoochee river the whole length of Cobb and Fulton's border.
