Default Would Atlanta ever annex Vinings?

I was just thinking if Atlanta will ever annex Vinings or other parts of Cobb inside the perimeter, since it contains such a large business district. Do you think this could happen, or would people in Vinings be too opposed?

Ah, Vinings. The new Sandy Springs. With this economy, I doubt they'd want to make a city now, or if Atlanta were to annex. I think that Vinings would become its own city before getting annexed by Atlanta (so never is what I'm saying).

I don't know if would ever happen, but I definitely think Atlanta should annex Vinings!

Atlanta should also annex these areas:

-Druid Hills
-Emory
-Toco Hills
-North Druid Hills
-Oak Grove/Briarcliff
-North Decatur
-Scottdale
-Sandtown
-Most of Unincorporated South Fulton (north of Union City, Fairburn; west of East Point, College Park)
-Gresham Park
-Constitutionion
-Brookhaven
-North Atlanta
-Ashford Park
-Six Flags

Although at their last attempt, Vinings leaders weren't able to get enough support to become their own city, I think if it were rumored Atlanta wanted to annex them, that would be enough to push folks into supporting the idea. No, they won't allow it.

Why do you think they're so against it? The usual reasons?

It gets a little interesting in GA since, IIRC, city boundaries cannot cross county lines. Sounds like somebody would have some "'splainin'" to do!

Any way, talk about building a wall around some place!

Uh...yeah they can. Part of Atlanta is in DeKalb County. Ever heard of East Atlanta? Also Loganville is split between Walton and Gwinnett counties.

Hahaha is that an actual quote from somewhere or did you use that as an example?

Atlanta should have annexed Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

Well, slap me silly. I wonder if that border-crossing can be done now-a-days? The Sandy Springs boundaries were set by the lines separating 'Dunwoody'(Dekalb County) and 'Norcross'(Gwinnett County) from the unincorporated area of Fulton Co. I always heard there was no chance that any area outside of Fulton could be included in the new city, no matter the will of the residents.

The bigger question would be:

Why in the world would Vinings residents want to be part of Atlanta? What could they gain?

Hey, I'm a thousand miles away now...y'all do whatever you want!
