golf carts in Peachtree city????
I have been reading about how people drive golf carts around town in Peachtree city, like cars. It caught my Eye, does anyone out there that lives there, tell me more about that? I live in Kingsland, Ga (on the Fl-Ga line) with my husband, and 2 Children are searching for somewhere to live south of Atlanta that is quiet but still has stores and Resturants close by. Also the golf cart idea would save us money on gas and maybe only needing to bring one car with us, if it's that east to get around in the golf carts??

Yes, you can ride everywhere on your golf cart in PTC. There are over 90 miles of trails for golf carts. People go to work, school, doctors, restaurants and shopping on their golf cart. Good schools.
PTC is very family friendly.
Small world, I spent all my summers in St. Mary's, GA!

I've been to Peachtree City, and yes, they do drive golf carts there. But that's because they have one of the most extensive pedestrian trail systems anywhere. They don't drive the carts on the streets. Another thing you should know is that Peachtree City housing costs are WAY high. You've pretty much got to be pulling in some major coin to live there. And it's not that all the homes are McMansions, either. Normal size homes go for big bucks. But yes, you can and they do get all around Peachtree City on golf carts or bikes, even to the grocery stores. One other thing to know is that they drive the golf carts so much that if you walk or bike the trails, there will probably be plenty of times you'll have to move over to the edge so somebody coming up on a cart can pass by. When I was there I had to flat out stop and move over because two carts were coming up behind me and one was coming from in front. The people were really nice, though. Most of the people I saw while I was walking the trail spoke to me even though they had never seen me before.

There are 1000's of golf carts and you cannot walk the trails without seeing a few even in the most inhospital weather and in nice weather they are everywhere. People take their carts to Walmart, Kmart, Kroger, Publics, City Hall, Library, Doctors Offices, Church, Popeyes, Mcdonalds, Wendys and just about every fast food joint and they have several non chain places too. And keep in mind there are trees everywhere and lots of animals. In fact, there are two bald eagles that have been spotted along Lake Peachtree and there are always deer; everyday I see several while walking the dog.
They also have a lot of nice parks and even a hugh dog park which in enclosed and you can let your dog run free; they have separate parts for dogs over 30 and a part for those under (including the old dogs). They also have a really nice raised wooden walkway that goes into the woods where you can observe nature.
The housing prices are higher than surrounding area but depending on what you want, you can get a small 3 bedroom ranch starting in the 130's but you can also buy million dollar plus if your really rich.
Another really nice feature is that they do not along bill boards or advertising to be promently displayed, and at first it can be difficult finding some places but overall its a very nice area and it was voted one of the 10 safest places to live in the usa.
One more plus; the people are very friendly
But one word of caution: if your looking for night life....forget it

Yes, Cislga it is a small world, we go to the waterfront every weekend in St. Mary's.
Thanks Ya'll for the responeses, I have been looking at the houses for sale right now in Peachtree city and saw about 25 good ones under 200,000. 3/2's mostly but some 4/2's.
Also, I see that Peachtree city has 2 High schools does anyone have opinion on which one is better?

I miss the moss in the trees! I hear golf carts are now are the rage in St. Mary's too! I still have friends that live there. We go to Amelia every 4th of July.
McIntosh is the only HS I know of in PTC, proper. Which two came up McIntosh and Starr's Mill? McIntosh just received The Georgia School of Excellence Award. We use to live there. In fact we still own a house there.

The golf carts are awsome to have here in Peachtree City.
We have had one for over a year now and really enjoy it way more than we ever thought we would.
We use ours for almost every errand that we have to run in town and for just getting out of the house on sunny days. Some families we know have actually sold one of thier cars and use the golf cart exclusively as thier other mode of transportation.
We were so thankful to have ours when last summers gas prices got so high. It was nice just to park the car and not have to use it for 3 or 4 days and use the golf cart to go get groceries etc.
Some things to remember here
-the rules applying to where golf carts can and cannot go on roads are strictly enforced.
- before buying a used one - have it inspected by mechanics (Our favorite golf cart mechanics here offer this service )
