Did anyone audition for this downtown this weekend? I went downtown today, but I just wanted to watch the auditions. I assumed they were open to the public. I guessed incorrectly. What's the point of living in a big city and having all these events in town if locals are not allowed to partake in them? I was in Memphis last year where they had Americas Got Talent Auditions and those were open to the public. And I'm just using this as an example. It's impossible to get tickets to the SEC Championship Game or the Kick Off Classic at the Georgia Dome. Or the NCAA basketball tournament games that come to town. Couldn't they set aside a few thousand tickets for locals to purchase? We get all these events that come to town but we're not allowed to enjoy them. Rediculous.

I'm just a regular citizen and I've been to every NCAA regionals that have been held in Atlanta. Are you talking about the Final Four? That is sold out WAY in advance.

I'm not sure what you're complaining about...but it can't be that you're mad at the city over America's Got Talent tryouts. I'm pretty sure that whether it's open to the general public isn't up to the host city.

I wasn't really indicting the city for the closed auditions today. But better info should have been sent out. The AJC said that this weekend's auditions were open to the public. Maybe they got some bad information. When they return to film the people who made the show next month, that's when they will open to the public according to the web site.

As far as the football kickoff classic in the GA Dome and the SEC football championship in the GA Dome, it's impossible to ever get tickets. Those are all given to the schools attending, like Alabama and Florida this year. We have huge events like these in our city, and most everyone can't get near a ticket unless they want to pay huge scalping prices.

Can't you buy tickets for those events FAR in advance?

Of course most of the seats are for the fans of the teams involved - that's how they get the best crowds. You don't want a large crowd of indifferent people, right?
